After getting one of the New 3DS XL's (post-Switch denial!), I noticed it was quite hard to find some 3DS products (including the consoles themselves).
One thing I wanted was the official New 3DS charging cradle but it's out of stock at the official store (£7.99 plus P&P) and then I started looking for the Japanese LL version and found this on Amazon.
It's EXACTLY the same product and it's a straight £10 delivered with Prime or £11.99 if you don't have that.
Thought this might be a useful find as it was a little hidden away without looking for the 'LL' product.

Just to clarify this a piece of plastic which docks your console, there is no charger included you will still require/purchase the charger.

Got one of these when you first posted. Not actually bothered about whether it charges well or not - just needed a nice display stand for my New XL

How do you currently charge your 3ds?

So does it work with a 1st gen 3DS XL? I am guessing it does, although the location of the connection fittings are different, but just wanna be sure

Which bit of 'New Nintendo 3DS XL' do you not understand?

If you have the 3ds xl (not the 'new' one) your docking option is the horizontal coloured cradle which is every bit as lightweight as this one. Club nintendo was the best place to get them and so subsequently ebay is now. Most are listed as a cradle fwiw. Some colours (white I think as I had it) were released in japan only.
LL is the japanese XL most will know that but its handy when looking for rarer accessories.
These docks arent that great and very obviously dont come with a charger (look at the box size) why nintendo didnt make them more substantial is pretty obvious but it would have been nice. Still owned two though!
I almost posted a new regular 3ds dock but couldnt find a retailer with enough stock at a reasonable price. The japanese mint green dock for both the new xl and regular new 3ds is choice.
This is more a stand or a dock. The option for the last xl model was sold primarily as a charging cradle from memory although 2nd hand sellers also list these as cradles which doesnt help xl owners when trawling for one. Heat for posting a 3ds accessory!

Also before I move on there was some chatter somewhere about the vertical docks for the new 3ds models causing a little cover plate rub. They can be snug fit sometimes (loose others) but I been using coloured plates for a year or so and cant see any damage myself.

fwiw, play-asia have the regular new 3ds dock in mint green for £9.06! + postage but its very low stock.
someone go buy it and then comeback and like me to death.

That's mine arrived just now.
Exactly as expected and I particularly like the cable storage as the adapter cable is pretty long.

yeah multiple options for the cable is good. I blu tacked mine down as they can move around (cats love cables)

Well I do, but not sure you do? We have a 3DS XL (1st gen), and also a 3DS XL NEW (branded as a newer model, or as I would describe it - 2nd gen). The 1st gen and 2nd gen are different, not just re the controls, general spec and battery chemistry, but also switches like on/off, volume and slots are all located quite differently. Even the cart slot has been moved to the bottom front of console, instead of the rear.

OK, just to clarify it doesn't work with the new model.

Okay thanks. It would have been possible for it to have been designed with multiple sizing to fit both units. If Hori made it they would have done it that way. The small 24 cartridge case they created for 3DS is a nifty product, it also perfectly fits the 2DS carts which have slightly different sizing.

Sorry, I meant to clarify it doesn't work with the old model but my head wasn't on straight!

I mean the old DS carts.... this is why Nintendo shouldn't have stupid consoles, with stupid names like Ver 2. that work on Ver 3. I understand it, but can even get mixed up and confused.
