What I couldn't work out was, why couldn't she just do that on the Customer service computer? And she was actually very rude, put me off buying in the place

She was very kind, the T&C's on the back of the voucher clearly (clearly is not true, its the smallest print ever known!) say one voucher per transaction.
Take them to self scan and buy your shopping one item at a time using one voucher for each item bought.

Anyone finding that redeeming these points is a pain.. just went into sainsburys and apparently they can only do 4 at once, and the lady on customer services said I had to come back another day! Ridiculous, I just want to redeem them all thanks, surely that's not hard!

Trying to be positive and even at 200 points a time, it's worth £2 in a double up event. I think we were so spoiled last time that normality this time (200 pointers) seemed a big let down.
I also had a few point bonuses on the Nectar website but I simply don't trust Nectar to deliver these (it's been very hit and miss in the past). Even when you load these bonuses to your card there isn't a way of checking the points after you have bought the correct product. Waiting 28 days is a pain.
With today's instant technology, that really is bit of a pain.

That's rubbish I cashed in 4 x 200 and a 5000 in one go at the CS desk in Harrogate the day after I got them. You can only cash in one at the tills though and only 1 and that's got to be no more than a 1,000 at the self checkout. I think some stores make it up.

Having real issues redeeming my vouchers at Customer Service! I tried again today and was told they can only be redeemed on a next instore shop and only a total of 1000 points on each transaction... I went to the self service and scanned through my shop, lo and behold the till will only accept one voucher. Was then told it's only one voucher per transaction. Sounds like the staff don't really know the deal here... either way, I had a handful of 200 points vouchers so I put them all through in about 10 different single item transactions

I went with 18 pack for £6. Seems reasonable and 240 sheets per roll. It's supposedly on offer. 65p off. Chances are price will increase soon so might as well stock up. Should be enough for next year or 2.
I may go back tomorrow for the keyboard on offer for 6-7 quid. This one has got a lot of dirt and grime. Seems a good price as online cheapest is £2-3 more. Need to find some items I don't have 3-4+ of to make up the £10. I won't need to buy much in Sainsburys for a few weeks now. There are 1-2 more items I could stock up on that have long shelf lifes that are not branded.

I did 3 shops yesterday. 2 x £10 petrol & 1 x grocery shop. Got 200 for each transaction so I felt a little disappointed compared to last time.
Chanced it again for another £10 of petrol today @ got a 2000 voucher so that made up for it slightly! Might try a bit more petrol tomorrow if I'm passing.
As a side note, how ridiculously expensive is it!? It's been a few months since I've been in but the stuff that's usually £1 have all crept up! Think I'll stick to Asda in future!

That's strange because my Sainsbury's garage is on the excluded list for Swipe & Win, but they definitely have those voucher printers - they occasionally give me vouchers for various things like bonus points on a threshold spend, which appear to be targeted to me so it would suggest the printers are hooked up to the Nectar system.
Whatever the reason, it's very frustrating for customers whose nearest garage is on the excluded list and I'm amazed Sainsbury's haven't ironed out this issue by now.

Just been in, bought £21 of shopping, split into 2 payments using self service - btw ENSURE THE VOUCHER PRINTER HAS THE GREEN LIGHT ON BEFORE USING.
On the way out, filled up with fuel. Received 2000, 200 and 200. So just short of £12 of points.
Intend on going back later, £10 fill up on the way in, spend £10 and then a £10 fill up on the way out. Depending on my fuel gauge, may even squeeze another £10 fill tomorrow.
Btw, does anyone know, "Qualifying spend excludes spirits and liqueurs"
Does this include crates of beer? I need some beer so that could be one transaction alone.

Makes no difference if you use a voucher on your shop as far as I am aware. Some self service tills won't accept high value vouchers.
Did one final shop today as the product on offer was in stock in another store. I am stocked up on chips now for many weeks. The mcvite chocolate digestive 200gr packs are still 50p. Assuming your local Tesco is not doing the 500gr pack for 67p. Got a 500 point voucher on shop today. I used a different store. Noticed a few other items that had gone up in price today too. Cling film some other biscuits toos. Lot of price rises in store.
So 200x4 and 500x1 so far. Not tried fuel yet but don't think my local store has a voucher machine at the garage. Plus the fuel is cheaper elsewhere.

4 Feb 17#111
When you split your shops do you give back the voucher you just got on the next shop or just accumulate a pile of vouchers and use them when the promotion finishes?
Just wondering as I did three shops today and used a voucher on each of them and only got 200 points each time. Last night I did two shops without using a voucher and got a 200 and a 500. Just trying to suss out if they are only throwing out a 200 if you use a voucher on your shop.

4 Feb 17#110
I used the self checkouts. Just make sure the till has a voucher machine.
Ironically I too noticed petrol price hike. Normally my local BP is 3p more than Sainsbury. Last few days it has been the same at 1.239 for Diesel. The Shell I normally use was £1.229. Cheaper than the supermarket. I expect Sainsburys prices to drop on Monday. Make no mistake they have planned a lot of price rises for this weekend.Hence timing of deal.

4 Feb 17#109
Your milage may vary, a checkout cashier shouldnt really refuse the trade. (I often see people splitting shops for relatives with a different set of money for each for example) although a lot will depend on whether or not you get embarrassed by this stuff. My mood dictates whether I do or not. Last night I did 3 x £10 shops through self scan
eddyw
4 Feb 17#108
Do you have to go around again each time to spend £10 or will the cashier let you pay after every £10 through the till?

Some customers are also being given a voucher for £1.50 off a £10 shop in store.
Use this on a second £10 basket of shopping and you get it for £8.50 AND still get the Swipe & Win Nectar voucher too. Verified this in store earlier today.

HOT!!!! Went into Sainsbury's this morning early and wondered why I got 200 points bonus? I'd only gone in because I had a 'spend £10 voucher and get 300 points'. A double double bonus, and what I bought was half price. :innocent:
When I got to the car I went on HotDeals and then saw this, I'd missed it earlier.
We will be doing the regular shop tomorrow now and split it all up into tenner lots. It's worth it. Fingers x for the 5000 points. I told a friend this evening who will be going with us tomorrow... 'oh can't be bothered to do that, you won't win 5000 anyway' - bloody well hoping we do now so I can gloat!!!

First transaction 200 points. Went round again and got another 200 points. The person in front of me each time got 200 points - and both of them were spending far more than £10 so it isn't spend related.
200 points is certainly the "default" amount this time around, whereas last November it was spewing out 1000 and 2000 all the time, with 500 points being a rare low amount.
I think they've got the promotion correctly costed this time (for them) which means it isn't as good (for us)!
Couldn't be bothered going around a third time but will no doubt be in on Saturday/Sunday just to see if I can stock up on anything.

Yep I doubt I will match my 9000 points from last time. I could do another £10 spend but I certainly won't spend for the sake of it.Maybe I should of tried different tills. 10% is okay but not huge. I avoided a lot of the branded stuff. The one thing on offer I wanted was out of stock.
Interestingly my local Sainsbury on fuel is charging exactly the same as a BP that normally charged 3p more a litre than Sainsburys. Could just be rising oil prices. I don't think my local store has tills that dish out vouchers.

Did it 4 times and got 200 points each time. This promotion has been seriously nerfed. Not sure I will do this again. Not worth the petrol to only get 200 points. You really need to be careful as only £1 in points could easily be saved by shopping elsewhere. Maybe I was unlucky. Last time minimum points was 500 per £10 spend for me.

Well got 4 coupons from fuel and 2 from the shop and all 200 point coupons.. ah well guess I'm unlucky this time

I haven't got a clue. Was just something I was made aware of from some at head office. Nectar company seemed to be doing really badly, hence a lot of deals at the moment but long term looking to replace it. What happens ultimetly is anyone's guess.

3 Feb 17#68
200 points on £10 fuel, then 4 x 200 point coupons plus a 1000 on shopping in-store. More fuel on way out got me a 2000 coupon. Not bad, they're still worth £20! Will try again at the weekend.
Thanks for the heads-up, OP!

Yep I split my £76 shopping and got 7 vouchers all 200 points except 2 vouchers which were 1000 each. Was ok, bit disappointing. Last time I did this I made £60

Like with Homebase, any points already gained with Nectar will remain but Sainsburys will set a deadline for (1) earning points and (2) spending them at Sainsburys.
Hopefully they will do an Easter double up so we can spend what we have.
Otherwise accumulating lots of points this weekend (which isn't looking likely anyway) won't be that worthwhile.

amz84uk
3 Feb 17#47
I filled up fuel this morning and received 200 points. The customer next to me at the other till and another one before me also received 200 points each. It definitely isn't as rewarding as last years promotion, but nonetheless can't knock a 10% discount (based on min 200 points (£1) on a £10 spend).
Hot from me!
Duplada
3 Feb 171#46
Just put £10 of fuel in and received 200 points, so it would seem that in addition to the reduced amount of prizes, if you don't win one of those, you receive 200 points. So work on a minimum of 10% discount rather than the 25% discount you received in October with 500 points minimum.
pobrobinson
3 Feb 171#45
I got £50 worth of shopping this morning split into 5 loads, 4 lots of 200 points and 1 2000 points. I didn't get a single 200 points last time so clearly they have reduced the prizes, but I still got £14 worth of points on can't be too unhappy

Thanks for pointing out the points difference compared to last time. I'd made a comprehensive list but will need to make sure I'm not buying things I don't need since lower chance of good return.
Also I've been keeping an eye on the price at my local petrol station and it is now relatively more expensive. It used to be as cheap as any in Edinburgh but is at the moment 3p more expensive for diesel than other Sainsbury's...

Not sure if it's been mentioned already, but don't forget to visit Nectar.com & Mycoupons.sainsburys.co.uk to load additional bonus point coupons to your card.
I've just checked mine & I've got bonus points on my next 4 swipes on fuel or grocery shops on the Nectar website & on the MyCoupons, loads of bonus points for things I'd probably buy anyway (if they're on offer!) plus a double points on a £10 spend.

just to compare with october
Available prizes are: 47,000 prizes of 5000 Nectar points, 862,000 prizes of 2000 Nectar points, 766,000 prizes of 1000 Nectar points, 1.7 million prizes of 500 Nectar points
February
Available prizes are: 27,649 prizes of 5000 Nectar points, 165,892 prizes of 2000 Nectar points, 387,082 prizes of 1000 Nectar points, 580,623 prizes of 500 Nectar points

They clearly took a hammering from HUKDers last time, heat added.
Available prizes are: 48,385 prizes of 5000 Nectar points, 96,771 prizes of 2000 Nectar points, 145,156 prizes of 1000 Nectar points, 290,312 prizes of 500 Nectar points.
So in the October prizes totalled 3.6bn points, in the quoted Feb numbers was 1.1bn and in the numbers currently on website it is 700 million.
If you wonder what the relevance of this is to you: it seems like, on average, prizes will be about 20% of what was won in October.

Not so great. Just noticed they sneaked a lot of price rises in here. Their 8 pack of Penguins at £1.80 vs 24 pack for £1.69 in Homebargains. 3 for the price of 1. Lot of other items I was planning to get have also fallen off their current offers. Lots of price rises since new year.
They are doing 36 pack of Jaffa cakes for £1.32. Some of the own brand stuff is reasonably priced. Albeit maybe not compared to Lidl etc. I will give it a few goes and see how I do. Won't be spending on branded items 40-60% cheaper elsewhere.
Just be careful with what you buy as Sainsburys can be quite expensive. Especially branded goods not on promotions.

1 Feb 17#34
Excellent, got £40 in points last time through a few £10 shops and 3 fill ups at the petrol station. Held on to the points and doubled up to get £80 in November.
gummby
31 Jan 17#33
The promotion only lasts 3 days. If you have a large tank 8-9 fills at £10 is not hard. Of course the value is if you stick to £10 spends. Sainsbury is not the cheapest place to buy all goods. Some things are much much cheaper elsewhere. Especially branded goods not on promotion.

Looks like the prizes this time round are down. The chances of winning 2000 points is reduced by nearly 80%. I grabbed 9000+ points last time on a £80 or so spend. Won't get as many 2000 point wins this time.
Make sure your till has a voucher producing machine!! Self service tills are normally fine. Just not in local stores.

24 Jan 17#30
I just went on on-line chat. The store has to have a CATALINA PRINTER to be included in the promo. I have to phone myself to find out. "Simone, to get you more information about this, you can contact the specialist team on this number 0800 63 62 62, they'll have all the details about the store".

24 Jan 17#29
I'm wondering how to find out which store in Solihull is excluded from the promo. As I'm sure Shirley, Stratford Road, Solihull was included last time but if they are talking about the Sainsburys in Solihull town centre it has no petrol station so it obviously wouldn't be included
simone10
24 Jan 171#28
No it doesn't if you read the T&C's its excluded at Pay at Pump
Has anyone done this with currency? I will be buying a few hundred dollars next month and considering doing it in batches for max points! X

I always liked the old style "Reward" card from around 1996 - a system like Tesco Clubcard without all of the distractions of Nectar.

Take them to self scan and buy your shopping one item at a time using one voucher for each item bought.
Guess it wasn't meant to be.
Last time they did this got £50 with 7 fuel purchases.
Was going to take my chances with fuel as well until I seen the price £123.9 for Diesel, only 119.9 a mile down the road in Asda.

Won't be bothering then.
Not impressed :-/
Could do one more shop today on a keyboard. (They were out of stock in the larger store.) Smaller store has them. Although I do like my current one as it has a rest for the palm of my hands. Might leave it. Gutted I got no voucher above 500 so far.
I have no room left in my freezer. Cupboards are over flowing too. Need a bigger litchen.
Compared to last time,really poor.
Beer is included :man:
Don't think we'll pop in tomorrow.
Just filled up:
1x5000
1x500
5x200
£70 diesel and got £32.50 in Nectar points :man:
Chanced it again for another £10 of petrol today @ got a 2000 voucher so that made up for it slightly! Might try a bit more petrol tomorrow if I'm passing.
As a side note, how ridiculously expensive is it!? It's been a few months since I've been in but the stuff that's usually £1 have all crept up! Think I'll stick to Asda in future!
I'm on 8 x visits now and all 200 points
My petrol plans are dead in the water. Both my garages near me are listed as not included on the T and C. Hmmmm.
I cant understand how its not just a case of hgaving a internet connection to join it all up.
i asked as telfords garage was flattened and rebuilt and i was sure they would have atdded the software to the new garage but no
Whatever the reason, it's very frustrating for customers whose nearest garage is on the excluded list and I'm amazed Sainsbury's haven't ironed out this issue by now.
Just wondering as I did three shops today and used a voucher on each of them and only got 200 points each time. Last night I did two shops without using a voucher and got a 200 and a 500. Just trying to suss out if they are only throwing out a 200 if you use a voucher on your shop.
Use this on a second £10 basket of shopping and you get it for £8.50 AND still get the Swipe & Win Nectar voucher too. Verified this in store earlier today.
I love Nectar. Best card out there. By a mile!
When it was on 12 months ago i ended up with £80 in points.
Thankyou for replying
Can on here to see if we were just unlucky compared to last time.
Interestingly my local Sainsbury on fuel is charging exactly the same as a BP that normally charged 3p more a litre than Sainsburys. Could just be rising oil prices. I don't think my local store has tills that dish out vouchers.
Sainsburys 119.9 and 121.9 Tesco 117.9 and 119.9 Shell 118.9 and 120.9
Wonder if it depends on higher transactions as all my shopping was 10GBP x 4
Thanks for the heads-up, OP!
Better than nothing but the diesel in Sainsbury's is !21.9 and I can buy it elsewhere for £119.9
