Please note that the American FTC has recently filed a complaint against D-Link for poor security in their wifi routers and other devices. The last big cyber attack on major websites was largely helped by devices like these. D-Link are not the only culprits by far and it is widely recognised amongst security experts that these IoT devices are at best poorly secured and at worst wide open to attack.I have a small home network but personally I wouldn't let any of these devices anywhere near me.

Well that's your problem then. You seem to profess knowing a little about network security, if you knew enough you'd know how easy it is to protect your own network. It's not D-Link's responsibility to protect your network for you!

I think I saw this for £70 odd in my local Sainsburys last month but I decided against it at the time... £50 is an awesome price. They only had 1 in stock though so no point me rushing there for nothing.

There was one - I didn't end up buying it but didn't put it back where it was meant to be (think I left it near the speakers etc in the electrical section)

Got one today along with a 360 pan/tilt camer reduced too...
Works with IFTTT too, HOWEVER.. the camera's seem not be integrated with IFTTT for some reason which is strange as there's a camera channel on IFTTTT but not for these cams!

Two in Sainsbury's Reading Calcot - by electronics pay desk and headphones.
I have my own home automation which I keep internal and away from these cloud services, as tempting as it was to get!

Found one in Sainsbury's Penzance. Wasn't on display, as stock had been moved into back room. Chap on mobile phone department went and looked for me. Worth asking in other stores.

so those that have one how have you got on with it? I like mine... still going through best process and setting up real time recording. Managed to setup and update all device no problems. Plugs work great with Amazon echo.
Undecided if I need the alarm box element for audible noise..
Actually got 2 kits but only deployed one for now.
would like to use the camera outdoor from a sheltered location, but not sure how.

On further reflection it occurs to me that maybe you simply don't understand the issue. This isn't about users not knowing about firewalls, antivirus and intrusion detection issues. This isn't even about Microsoft or Google getting slapped down for issues that were based in complicated code interactions causing "sometimes" unknowable consequences.
This is about manufacturers negligence in offering the basic security measures required for use in today's hostile Internet environment.
It's like having a fancy car with simple locks and no car alarm.
