An issue just as big as the 1GB RAM, is the fact that it only supports WiFi of 2.4Ghz. Not 5Ghz. Found that out on setting up the phone. Shut the phone down and returned for a refund. Even a 4 year old Samsung supports 5Ghz. It costs nothing extra to include 5Ghz capability, but the removal in the G4 Play is simply to make the G4 mid range (that has 5Ghz) look better.

Come on, 1gb is not enough. I don't understand why we are speaking about it. Nowadays I wouldn't buy apple with 1gb, only 2! And that's an apple, but android...minimum the 2gb, but to be honest 3-4 is the normal now. If I were you I would spend more few pound and buy with 2!

For anyone still picking up posts this phone arrived yesterday with no additional customs charges. Its very nippy and I havnt experienced any lag at all. It does have NFC for those who queried. The 5" screen is perfect. Its slim and perfect to handle. The Moto G Plus which I bought for the missus is quite large and heavy by comparison.

If this came back in stock I'd get it. But that being said, I've got the original moto g which has 1gb ram and it's very sluggish. Would this be any better?

Bought at £69 and returning it, NFC does not work, apps sometimes hang, slow, was told to waste some time and factory reset, time wasted. Main thing NFC issue. I think there is No notification light and the pin to unlock the screen has to be followed by the ok/enter sign which is annoying. Otherwise not bad :smiley:

Mine is currently on 14% battery and been on since about 14.30pm on the 16th from a full charge. Very happy going to this from a phone that would sometimes no longer last a 8 hour workday. Can't say 1gb ram has made a difference whatsoever either, nothing lags, phone is fast. Got it when it was 69.01 too which is a nice bonus!

The 1Gb of RAM puts me off too. Also, I don't believe this phone supports NFC but someone will shoot me down I'm sure if I'm wrong.

Agree entirely. Bought one for my son and had a play while setting up. Seemed fine with lots of apps open and speedy to nip between them. Would be amazed if there is better value than this for 80 notes.

Have to agree that 1gb ram just isn't enough. They start out OK but after a few weeks they grind to a halt.

​Ive had 5+ tabs opened in both Chrome & Firefox and just to test this thing about the 1 GB Ram not being enough and this phone is reacting super quick :wink: what do some people expect a sub £100 phone to be capable of doing ? I'm on a really good payg so not bothered about the monthly deals where you end up paying several hundred pounds, I get really cheap data when I'm out and at home I hook up to Wi Fi , maybe some people are getting carried away with things :stuck_out_tongue:

I bought both. The Moto G Plus has been with Customs and Excise all day so you might want to hold on if you are thinking of purchasing. It will be delivered tomorrow so if I get whacked wit a whopping great import duty I will let you know. Motorola use Fedex so every item gets scrutanised.

Thanks OP I have one its fine, I do not want to have multiple browser windows open, NO its not as fast as a £300 plus phone.
I paid 100 got a £20 refund due to only 1gb ram and a £10 Quidco so only cost me £70. I can have large print enabled and not need to wear glasses, loads of room for apps plus expansion via sd card. It has a removable battery, so its replaceable, 3 members of my family have had problems with their iphone batteries after less than 2 years use.
