Presumably you meant RCD. Either way, just plug the extension lead into one or replace the lead with an alternative. This is still a good deal.
You'll need some 13amp rated flex cable and a 13amp fused plug though which will be a couple of pounds extra depending on the length.

Mine doesn't even have velcro. It is just loose and you could put your own multiplug in it if you wanted.

It's only the extension lead that's rated 10A, surely? Buy the box and use with your own 13A extension lead, keeping the supplied one for other purposes.

cheers been looking for one of these for a while bargain with the 8m lead included. no you don't need to drill the box it comes with rubber strips that seal against the cables the screwfix similar item is £41 http://www.screwfix.com/p/weatherproof-box-kit/46169

If you look at the picture of the box open, it clearly shows the part where the cables go out of the box. I bought the hlaf price Screwfix one before Christmas which is very similar but came with a mechanical timer and an RCD to plug it into.

No stock anywhere near me. However, Homebase were doing this for the same price for a couple of months before xmas, but of course they had put the price up by beginning of December. If you can't get these locally at Argos then keep an eye at Homebase online and I'm sure it'll be there again soon. Currently £15.98 there;
I've had this same box for a few years now. Good quality and nice long lead. Used for Xmas lights in the front garden.

OOS in every store around Southport and surrounding areas, no delivery either :disappointed:
ronmanager
23 Jan 17#32
This is correct. There is no drilling required. The bit along the long edge unclips and comes completely off revealing a row of gaps with cable grips sitting on soft rubber. When you clip the bar back in, it seals round the cables before closing the lid.

Dodgy outdoor lights don't cause a surge. They may be affected by one, but then that's a problem when buying dodgy christmas lights, not buying an extension to plug them into.

Can't believe you're right. That would be very strange. Think you should have checked more carefully before posting. In the base of the box you should find a bar that pulls out when the door is open. Slot your cables into the slots and grips that are revealed, push the bar back in and close the door. Simple.

anyone using this with timers inside the box? just wondering if they work or even fit on the extension within the box itself or do most people just use one on the main plug for the extension....
Arold to luckyfives
23 Jan 17#25
I've used one with a timer plugged into the 4-way and 12V transformer plugged into the timer. That was in a predecessor to this one, though, and it's up in the loft where I've no desire to go right now to measure it, so I can't guarantee it would fit in this one. You could always plug a short single-socket extension into the 4-way, lay it flat in the bottom of the box and plug into that.
