If you have ordered from Amazon for £170 and the price went down, all you had to do was to ask for a refund, no need to send back and reorder. Also £125 is for for Prime members only.

Not so. It used to work this way but the last 2 times I tried this (price went down within a week of ordering) I had to return and re-order. Last time was last week so I think this is the policy now.

I believe their policy has changed. They wouldn't refund me the difference of a price of an item BEFORE my item was even delivered, said I had to refuse delivery and they re-order at the lower price.

Can Non-Prime people take advantage of the Warehouse versions for £108? Apparantly "Minor Cosmetic Marks on Top".
TonySquared to Silhouette
3 Jan 17#9
Tried that once, took 2 weeks, never arrived, was an "error", never had a problem with Amazon but 1st time I order from the warehouse there was an issue...
How many drills does the case hold? If you want the impact driver and a case that holds 2 drills, would it not be cheaper to buy the dlx2131 set? £199.99 for everything with 2 3ah batteries?
But for the drill on its own in this kit, hot
Silhouette to TonySquared
3 Jan 17#16
Case looks to be specific to this kit. I.e. battery plus 2 batteries and charger.
However, if you opted for the kit with the Impact Driver too, would you not essentially be paying £75 for the Driver, when you can get that Body Only for cheaper?
Personally, I picked up one of those tidy Makita LXT bags for £17.30 and ill just be rehousing everything in that I reckon.
Silhouette
3 Jan 172#15
I dipped when they had the 20% off everything Warehouse then the £30 off £100 promotion.
Id say most of the stuff was better shape than quoted. Nothing was disappointing and all delivered next day when I selected Prime.
I have heard horror stories though and I think their reputation is about 85% at the moment!?
TonySquared
3 Jan 17#17
You would be paying £75 for the impact driver and a case that holds 2 drills, 3 batteries and the charger.... but if the case is of no interest then this is the better deal. Got mine off eBay as I had loads of nectar points to use...

Anyone know if these batteries work with the Makita 18V vacuum? Guess it should as its listed as a commonly bought-together item.
Silhouette
15 Jan 17#45
Yes, Makita have two "styles" of 18v battery. The old ones are thin/flat and white. These new 18v batteries will work with most of the 18v "modern" Makita release.
I bought the circular saw and the batteries from this work in that perfectly.

More like losingmytemper-arily. I'm returning the Screening £129 bundle tonight for a refund. 453 body and slow charger so decided against it. Have ordered this Amazon deal from Powertoolworld.co.uk for £163, minus £7 Quidco (and a £10 bonus) so I'm at £146 but at least it will arrive thus week...

Can't blame you. I've used gift credit which is now tied into this order and unusable. Somewhat frustrating.

Hope I'm wrong.
The_Pope

The_Pope
31 Jan 17#79
Nobody has received a thing from Amazon so hard to say, but worth keeping an eye on
MaxiB
31 Jan 17#80
Thanks for that Pope. Had a look through my emails but nothing like that received. Well, may aswell keep waiting.
Not holding out much hope though tbh. After placing my order from Plumbcentre at 119.99 on 27th Dec. and waiting till my delivery date on 13th Jan to receive nothing (without a cancellation email or any other form of contact from them) I pressed them a few times over the phone to see if they can make good somehow. They weren't really interested.
The usual story, apparently they were overwhelmed with orders and couldn't fulfil them all and although one had supposedly been ordered in for me to be transferred to my local store for home delivery 'someone must have sold it', is what they said. Anywho, they reckon they've made calls to numerous suppliers and Makita themselves on my behalf and said that they can't get any stock at all, whatsoever, so I quickly placed an order with Amazon the same day hoping to get lucky. If I'd have known they were gonna shaft me I could have got it from Amazon whilst they still had stock or a number of places who had it marked down to 120-125 at the time, but I never got that chance.
Based on that, my cynicism tells me Amazon probably won't be able to get stock either and our orders will remain pending on the never, never.
We shall wait and see..
Although I am tempted by this. Is it a good deal do you think? Not sure I need to spend this much though considering it'll only be getting used once in a blue moon when the odd DIY task rears it's head. Looks like a quality piece of kit though. I like quality. :man:
The_Pope
31 Jan 17#81
That a lot of coin. I'd need to look at the drill body specs tomorrow but 5ah batteries are at least £70 each and there's two of them; feels like massive overkill. Remember, you can buy Body Only and pick up whatever capacity battery you want
MaxiB
31 Jan 17#82
It is really for a bit of novice DIY. Brushless though so would probably last me a lifetime, and if ever I decided to undertake a larger project least I've got the kit and battery power to see me through properly. I figured batteries come up to about 150 quid, quick charger 30-35 and a mac pac + inlay - another £30 maybe? Works out about 30-35 quid for the body.
Still, silly money for a non-professional who doesn't need all that ooomf. Need to behave myself

To me it's simple: is this in your budget and are you going to get use from it? If so, then the purchase is justified.
Don't fall in the trap of saving a few bob now and then having to upgrade soon afterwards. Always buy the best your budget will allow.
Just my two penneth worth.

Not sure yet how I feel about this. How move was yesterday so I've already made good use of my order from Powertoolworld.co.uk. I'm VERY happy with the performance, battery life, and even the LED makes a surprising difference, compared to the cheaper model I had from Screwfix.
I'll probably leave this in my basket and decide later. I already bought the LXT "dust buster" which works well. Next up I need one of the LXT circular range, and potentially the entry level reciprocating saw, though Amazon is the same "ships in a month" and stock elsewhere is scant.
Having moved from a central London flat to my first house, I have a garden now. Wife wants me to borrow a mower from a neighbour rather than buy the LXT mower; I'm sure even I could survive with a B&Q broom and rake, rather than the LXT leaf blower/vac...

I've given up and cancelled. No est. del. date from Amazon as of half an hour ago.
If it helps anyone, I went ahead and ordered from here instead at £148.98, however it also includes a free 101-piece Makita bit set which retails around £20+ so once you take that away from the price of the Combi Drill Kit, it comes in at £128.98 (incl. vat). £4 more than Amazon...which I can live with :stuck_out_tongue:
Granted, a lot of reviews indicate 50% of the bit-set is made of cheese and the other, probably custard, but at least I've got a semi-decent selection of bits to use once or twice before they snap and get tossed in the bin! Plus it should be here by Monday with free standard delivery (next business day).

paul106
11 Feb 171#99
Amazon apologised and offered a full refund if I returned it. I explained that I needed one now and that I would keep it if they offered a partial refund for the added inconvenience.
End result, they offered me a 20% refund. So for a total cost of £100 I can live with using an adapter and it being a different colour!

For those that have kept the drill with the 2 pin plug - can you still register with Makita for a full 3 year UK Waranty ? Not such a good deal if you can't.
DevilMan
13 Feb 17#101
There's been plenty of discussion on whether it is legal to sell items with a two-pin plug in the UK, regardless if it comes with an adapter or not.
Yep, full 3 year warranty just registered.

Add that to the body for £48.99 and £164 (without the case) is still a great price.
Just bagged an impact driver to go with from Power Tool World for £59.99 too.

Not quite. Thats ~£40 worse value.
But for the drill on its own in this kit, hot
However, if you opted for the kit with the Impact Driver too, would you not essentially be paying £75 for the Driver, when you can get that Body Only for cheaper?
Personally, I picked up one of those tidy Makita LXT bags for £17.30 and ill just be rehousing everything in that I reckon.
Id say most of the stuff was better shape than quoted. Nothing was disappointing and all delivered next day when I selected Prime.
I have heard horror stories though and I think their reputation is about 85% at the moment!?

"Temporarily out of stock. Order now and we'll deliver when available. We'll e-mail you with an estimated delivery date as soon as we have more information. Your credit card will not be charged until we ship the item."
Have to wait and see if / when it comes into stock...
Im still waiting, but for that price, im happy to.
I bought the circular saw and the batteries from this work in that perfectly.
If you get desperate in terms of 30 days, you may wish to Amazon Chat them up.
Not sure if this is a good or bad sign?
Or... its bad news, because they've now been told they can only get 10 in stock or something
Im hopeful.
Did you get in touch?
Then again, if they ultimately cancel it because of no stock, you've "wasted" your £10 off; I'll probably use mine today on something they can dispatch immediately and keep waiting for the drill
I'm going to see what happens over the next week before deciding what to do.
Same thing happened when I got the bread maker from Amazon - took about 3 months from order to delivery, worth the wait though.
I've got barely a week left before I need it, or be "stuck" with the Screwfix 453
I did try to contact Amazon but got a cookie-cookie type reply, guess the waiting goes on for a little longer.
Lol.
I don't think this one is going to materialise. I think the 'Anniversary' edition was a limited run so I would be surprised if it comes back into stock.
Hope I'm wrong.
:man:
Still, silly money for a non-professional who doesn't need all that ooomf. Need to behave myself
Don't fall in the trap of saving a few bob now and then having to upgrade soon afterwards. Always buy the best your budget will allow.
Just my two penneth worth.

"Makita DHP482RFWJ 18 V Combi Cordless Drill"
Estimated arrival date: March 01 2017 - April 08 2017
I'll probably leave this in my basket and decide later. I already bought the LXT "dust buster" which works well. Next up I need one of the LXT circular range, and potentially the entry level reciprocating saw, though Amazon is the same "ships in a month" and stock elsewhere is scant.
Having moved from a central London flat to my first house, I have a garden now. Wife wants me to borrow a mower from a neighbour rather than buy the LXT mower; I'm sure even I could survive with a B&Q broom and rake, rather than the LXT leaf blower/vac...

[ "Makita DHP482RFWJ 18 V Combi Cordless Drill"
Estimated arrival date: February 27 2017 - April 03 2017
A little happier now
If it helps anyone, I went ahead and ordered from here instead at £148.98, however it also includes a free 101-piece Makita bit set which retails around £20+ so once you take that away from the price of the Combi Drill Kit, it comes in at £128.98 (incl.
Thanks for this post Silhouette saved me a few ££££££
Just checked my order for this drill and it has changed.
It now reads
Arriving 27 Feb - 3 Apr
Will dispatch 2 Apr
Not yet dispatched
Sending an email complaint now.
Not surprised you didn't receive the anniversary edition as this was a limited run. Amazon have been smart in that even though the pictures show this, the description never mentions that it would be.
The non-UK edition is a whole different ball game....I'll wait to see what turns up.
End result, they offered me a 20% refund. So for a total cost of £100 I can live with using an adapter and it being a different colour!
Amazon seen to have a history:
https://conversation.which.co.uk/home-energy/plugs-two-pin-british-amazon
I have no problem with Amazon selling an item that comes fitted with a non UK standard plug, but they need to be clear about this and at least supply an adapter. I thought this was a minimum requirement?
Enjoy making stuff! :smirk:
