Saw that one at B&Q a couple weeks ago. Initially it peaked my interest, but the non interchangeable batteries is a show stopper for me.
Seems like a reasonable drill, just a shame as I feel it cheapens the brand a little.

Indeed, if it ain't LXT then you're SOOL.
Bit miffed at discovering that the LXT Lawn Mower requires a £75 "adapter" in order to use 2 x 18V batteries :disappointed:
I'm in the same boat, I'm not in the trade or likely to be constructing any warehouses soon. What I want is a light use, high quality tool.
Not bothered if this is the runt of the litter.

I've set up an alert; my hunch says this won't return to stock.
Update: Amazon has now reappeared in the sellers list, but currently showing out of stock. Placed an order on the off-chance.

OH, so it has! I've also placed an "out of stock" order - maybe the more of us that do, the quicker they will get some stock in? I'll just have to keep the Screwfix box unopened for 30 days and see if Amazon comes through (though it's still a marginal / imperceptible drill difference for a user like me; fast charger also isn't a deal-breaker but let's see)

My Screwfix order is also arriving today. As I'm not in a mad rush to use it right now, I'm going to see what pans out with Amazon over the next few days.
More than happy with this drill if the other one doesn't materialise.

Fair enough. I can't wait, so I'll likely stick with it (delivery due today). I'm just a light DIY'er so not bothered about the slight difference in drill capabilities (they are also sold "bare" if I want to upgrade). The 2 x 3ah batteries are more important to me, as I'm going to buy several more LXT tools and share the power between them

Indeed. if you look at the camel tracking graph it seems to happen each time it goes out of stock with them and then reappears for a few days.

Cheers Njay, saw this. It looks like Amazon has been removed as a seller for this listing.

thats the one but the tracking needs to be on Amazon rather than 3rd party.
I bought the DHP482RFW (drill, 2x3Ah batteries and 22 min charger in makpak case) for £125 just before Xmas. It went out of stock the next day but pops up back in stock occasionally as camel camel showed it as available for a few days inc yesterday at £125. It's oos now though.
been playing the waiting game on the dtd152 which popped up at £57.99 from Amazon last week so got too and fits in the existing case albeit loose.

Njay, can you post a CamelCamelCamel link?

To be fair, there was a deal at Plumb Centers for the DHP482RFW, but it looks like half the people had their orders cancelled. Old stock shifting.
I'm not wed to this particular drill, so if there is any better quality drill currently for the money some advice would be helpful.

Best I found for the DHP482 was £139 but that's just one 3ah battery not two (they are about £50 each) or they two a two battery kit but only 1.5ah each.

Indeed, I'd be interested, since I'm one of the alleged suckered who went for this deal...

That's a very light duty old drill and the slow charger. You can get a decent kit with the newer light duty drill with 2x 3ah, fast charger and a case for around the same price

Fair enough, so where is this Makita drill you speak of? I've searched extensively and to get the improvements you speak of it means a hit to the wallet.
The Amazon deal for the 482 was a one off and finished months ago.

I've got both. the 482 has the light the 453 does not and is a lower end unit (less torque etc). I find the light to be essential but might be different for others. The previous Amazon deal was alot better. My 453 will be going on a well known auction site soon.

Had my BHP452 since 2008 and still going strong, although the battery doesn't hold charge for long now, hence looking for a replacement. Mine has a 3ah battery which charges in 22 minutes, so seems strange that the same capacity battery now needs 60 minutes, but I suppose if you've got 2 batteries this is less of an issue.

This bundle from screw fix comes with the DC18SD charger which is a slow charger at 60mins approx, whereas you might have the DC18RC, which is a 22min fast charger, both chargers will charge LXT batteries from 14.4-18v.
The DHP482 is the better model with a more compact body (198mm long) with higher torque (62Nm) vs the DHP453 which is 239mm long and only 42Nm torque.
The DHP482 has an LED work light which I don't think the DHP453 does
I hope that helps someone.

Tell a lie, that was the DHP482. Not sure how the two compare.

Got to be a bit careful though as Makita have started selling not compatible cheapo stuff like this one in B&Q http://www.diy.com/departments/makita-cordless-18v-13ah-li-ion-combi-drill-2-batteries-hp457dwex2/278413_BQ.prd?Cordless_Drills_SRD1
