Edge Of Tomorrow (12) 2014
Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt star in this sci-fi action feature based on the light novel 'All You Need Is Kill' by Hiroshi Sakurazaka. New Special Forces recruit William 'Bill' Cage (Cruise) is equipped with a powered exoskeleton and sent on a mission to fight a fierce alien race known as Mimics, who are ultimately unstoppable. Cage soon dies in combat but, caught in a time loop, he finds himself very much alive and once again facing the same battle. This process repeats itself several times but with every fight Cage grows stronger and more adept. He meets tough warrior Rita Vrataski (Blunt) and together they try to bring down the enemy once and for all.

I often mention this film to other people because I really like it but hardly anyone else seems to have heard of it. I think they messed up a bit with the marketing because the naming is a bit confusing. I think the easiest way to describe what it is about is to say it's like a Sci-Fi version of Groundhog Day.

Both this and Oblivion were better than I expected, two very decent Cruise sci-fi films after the disappointment of the War Of The Worlds remake.
Rewatched both so for me that means worth buying as a keeper so not at the mercy of streaming services when fancy rewatching again.

Great movie, wish they couldve done a story along these lines for the Terminator reboot.

I thought the spoiler alert comment was for giving away the plot of Shawshank Redemption, which is about 23 year.old.

One of my recent favourite films, one of not very many you'll want to Repeat. Hot.

:smirk:
If I had watched Edge of Tomorrow after its name had been changed to Live, Die, Repeat, it would of spoilt it for me. I went into the cinema not knowing and was suprised when he died, and then came back again and it was repeated. The alternative title is somewhat of a spoiler itself.
In fact not sure I would have watched it at the cinema if it had been named Live, Die, Repeat. Makes what is in fact a good film sound awfully repetitive. It's not really, but the name would have given that impression.

Edge of Tomorrow was fine, shame they felt they had to dumb it down and give it a literal title.
Shawshank Redemption or Man Escapes from Prison.

Wish I saw this in the cinemas.
Seen it at least 3 times now. Always enjoyable.
All You Need Is Kill probably not a suitable title, even though that is the name of the manga.
Edge of Tomorrow is a better name than Rocklock though.

Yeah, people thought this film's title was "Live, Die, Repeat".

They made it much more prominent after they realised that 'Edge of Tomorrow' was just too generic and didn't make any impact. 'Live. Die. Repeat.' is essentially its second name and was leaned on heavily for the DVD release.
With aliens .... but a poor ending let it down :disappointed:

£2.50 delivery, but you can buy up to 10 items per order. So with CeX orders, its worth having a look for any cheap blu-rays, DVDs etc to spread delivery cost.
