Doesn't seem a bad price for a combined ADSL/VDSL router.

Replaced my Sky ADSL router, after pulling my username and password from my old router using Wireshark the automatic install took care of the rest.
Had an issue with some wireless devices though - most connected fine, but my missus' iphone 6S kept dropping and my Android phone kept reporting no internet whilst other devices were connected fine. Seems to be an issue with ipv6, once i turned that off in the router settings, the issues seemed to go away...

Same here was up and running quickly with plusnet FTTC however decided to stick to the Plusnet Hub One (BT Home hub 5) as their is no option to change DNS so no real advantage for me using it for connection but works great as an additional access point for extending range. Seems to work with most FTTC providers apart from SKY, I actually contacted Linksys support team to see if it would support Sky's FTTC but they didn't even know who SKY are.

It's still not a bad price however after playing around with the settings I have decided not to use it as my main router, one of the main reasons being in vdsl mode you cannot use your own DNS settings it only allows the ISP ones. Im using it with a powerline upstairs to extend the range and so far it's working well getting around 702Mbps between my laptop and this router on the 5Ghz range.

If you want to check what speed your router is actually syncing/connecting to the exchange at then you can do so by typing http://bthomehub.home or 192.168.1.254 into your browser which will give you access to your homehub 5's user interface and then select the troubleshooting option followed by the helpdesk button you will be asked to type your routers password which will then let you access the page on here their should a list of different information your intrested in 6. Data rate: and 7. Maximum data rate: get those and posted them on here as this will show what your real speed to the router actually is.

BB is Broadband. Sync is connection between modem/router at your home and fiber cabinet on the street. It may vary due to many things: distance, conductor type, and the way your home is wired up. You can only improve last one. If for example your router is connected to 3rd extension socket in the chain using microfilter then you may loose quite a lot of speed as signal can get split into many parallel points in the house. If you master socket is prefitted with VDSL frontplate then you can be sure that you are achieving best possible speed because all extension sockets are isolated. Best scenario is when your house have just one master socket and no extension sockets.

Depends on the Home Hub you have from BT and also what you phone line is actually capable of providing. Whilst you may be paying for 50mb it is possible that 35mb is the maximum your line can achieve from the cabinet to your house. I can't comment on speed improvements in terms of the wi-fi as I haven't tried the product yet amazon are delivering on Tuesday however the homehub 5 and 6 both have higher wi-fi speed than this in terms of 5ghz ac as the home hub 5 can achieve 1300mbps on ac and the hub 6 can achieve 2600mbps on ac in theory. It is possible though that this products signal could reach further than the homehub 5 which many people hate.

You could improve your BB sync speed by connecting your router to your master socket (test socket) this is the only way. Unless you mean that your sync speed is 50 meg and you cant get more than 30 on Wifi connection?

It's not got DD-WRT support. The article title that person linked is confusing and is mentioning this router along with linksys WRT router range which is DD-WRT. From what ive read no VDSL routers are supported by DD-WRT

How does this compare to the Plusnet fibre router?
I've only got the 5ghz band and my baby cam needs 2.4ghz. not a big deal but if this is better and does both it would be worthwhile.

I dont think your plusnet router is 5ghz only. Don't think any ISP provided router is 5ghz only.

I stand corrected, good spot. Still, I only want a basic-ish VDSL router to replace a dodgy ISP-provided Technicolor one so this will fit the bill for £35 notes.

I don't think it is DD-WRT-able based on the link provided above or comments on the dd-wrt forum (this modem/router was mention in a press release talking about dd-wrt for different devices)
