This launched in January for £80 on amazon, now it is seriously cheap.

will sky fibre work with any other router than with the one they supply? for normal ADSL they don't give you the username and password.

do a Google search and you can find out how to find the user and password, easy enough to do
though I work with networks and the likes of wireshark, the person who did the instructions, did make it easy for most ppl, with pics etc

I think it works with sky ADSL but doesn't look like it will with Sky Fibre as im sure I read somewhere the router needs to have an option called DHCP Option 61 due to the old type of authentication sky fibre uses which this router does not have.

Which is why this router is useless... Aerials do give you better coverage, but also cost of unit rises a lot too... Also on most units aerials can be detached and extension cable connected giving you more flexibility with coverage and unit placement. As for me all them superhubs supplied with your provider are rubbish, no control, always buggy firmware, unpredicted behaviour with more that 10 devices etc...

Guys I work in tech but my router knowledge is pants. I wanted to know if this is any better than my virgin super hub? The question was asked on the other post but it wasn't answered. My wifi constantly drops out and even though I live in a small flat, I can't get wifi signal in all rooms.

Thanks for the reply, I do have a power line extender but even that's 50/50. I'm on the verge of splashing out on a serious router but if I can save a few pounds that'll be good

maybe you need to look at where the router is positioned. I don't know anything about the virgin superhub but surprised if it isn't strong enough for a small flat. Also worth looking at which channel your router is using - you could be getting interference from neighbours?

The smart hub 6 is better in terms of wifi speed with AC speeds being 2600Mbps compared to the x6200 which has an AC speed of 433Mbps. However it's down to personal choice I know the Smart Hub has had a lot of teething issues with devices failing to connect among other problems.

I can't comment on the Linksys, but recently moved from BT Homehub 5 (which has been brilliant, except for slightly dodgy signal upstairs) to BT Smarthub (aka HH6) . Smarthub is useless - loses VDSL connection, devices can't connect to the wifi, and every time they do a software update I need to factory reset. Did get an extra bar of wifi signal upstairs though, for what it's worth! BT sent second Smarthub and they are both the same. Have moved back to the HH5 and all is fine.

Replaced my Sky ADSL router, after pulling my username and password from my old router using Wireshark the automatic install took care of the rest.
Had an issue with some wireless devices though - most connected fine, but my missus' iphone 6S kept dropping and my Android phone kept reporting no internet whilst other devices were connected fine. Seems to be an issue with ipv6, once i turned that off in the router settings, the issues seemed to go away
