O2 now use band 3 (1800) as well. I think atm it's only available in cities and they are rolling out to other areas as well. I can confirm it's working in London. My old chinese OP2 suddenly start showing 4G.

I would leave Giffgaff for bt mobile (EE) so band 20 isn't an issue for this phone

My OnePlus One has been showing 4g for ages. I'm using Tesco mobile (which uses 02 as far as I know). If the phone is showing 4g, does it meant it is actually using it?

Shame it's only a 5 inch screen. After using Samsung Notes I don't think I could do that small. Good the camera on this? I'm sure that and lots of other obvious questions like band 20 have been covered on a previous listing of this phone (different deal). So go and look it up people....

Will Life/Plusnet (EE) work fine on this phone and will standard UK banking apps run? It looks well speced although I'd prefer a larger screen ideally

the 820 is 2 years old now and its replacement the 821 is out.

I had been on the Indian ROM for awhile ...

I wanted to try the new Android 7.0, for this you have to go back to official Chinese ROM first.
Then get your phone to 2.3.042_ST version to receive the new OTA.

Just downloading Android 7 to my phone now.

It's a very good phone and ridiculously good value for the money. Only issues are that the camera isn't great (though apparently the Nougat ROM improves things in this regard), and I'm not the biggest fan of the ZUI brand of Android.

It looks as though there is already unofficial Lineage OS support from the enthusiast community so I'll probably soldier on with ZUI for a bit longer until a nice, stable L-OS release is available to try.

Coming from a phone which had Band 20 support, I have to say I don't notice a great deal of difference with the lack of it on the Z2. I'm on BT mobile at the moment which uses the EE network so I still have 4G available much of the time and most of the times I don't are when I'm at home or work with Wifi access. Not a real issue for me.

Im making the move to android and fancy a huawei p9 or Honour.
I have the huawei smart watch and it's superb but useless with iOS - I'm peeved at apples restrictive business model. Being a noob to android I'm not sure why to get although I like the phones I mentioned - I'm also with EE and heavy on 4g usage. My iphone6 is leaving me! But android appears higher maintainaceand a few mine fields along the way..?? Advice appreciated

Its a version of Android. Both comes with ZUI, which is "theme" on top of Android which cannot be changed.
Chinese ROM - comes without Play Store, Google Services and you need to find apk and installed (not always working well) [English Language available but not everything translated everywhere]
Indian ROM - comes with Play Store, Google Services. Everything should be translated to English

You can connect phone o PC/Laptop and "re-install" ROM, a lot of links to Indian ROMs in previous listing of ZUK Z2. Search for ZUK Z2 and read notes on expired deal with over 1000 heat

Is this better than the Xiaomi phones?

I had difficulty with the original China ROM and since switching to the Indian one I've had no problems with the Play Store, health app, and updates. No Android 7 yet.

I've got the bumper. It's good quality, but not that great a match for the white phone. I'm getting paranoid tho' with the glass back and I think I'll get a case that covers it.

I am waiting for my Z2 in black, few weeks I guess. Thinking to stick with Indian ROM or if it comes with Chinese upgrade to Nougat and see how works. If not that good then load Indian ROM and wait for Indian Nougat release.

Can't believe how cheap this phone is. I've got one and for £140ish, you get a snapdragon 820 CPU, 1080p screen fingerprint sensor, 4GB ram, reasonable camera (it ain't spectacular - but not as crap as the usual chinese ones), good call quality, decent speaker (loudspeaker is very clear - I don't care about music quality). The ONLY thing missing from this is a micro SD card slot, which I'm quite cheesed off at, but if I wanted one I'd have to pay double!

Just shows how much overpriced all other phones are.

Yes. Both are on Three. They worked with older ROMs too.

I got mine for around £180 from ebay UK seller. I thought it was a very good price for SD820, 4GB/64GB ... if you don't need NFC.

At this price, it's the best value for the money.

To get the best from the phone, I recommend you update from the pre-installed international ROM.

Btw, I only been on Android 7.0 for 2 days ... so far, so good. No crashes yet. :smiley:

Not used a charger for ages. Swapped all my sockets to USB ones. It comes with a 2 pin one so can use with an adapter.

Anybody know the likelihood of getting hit with import fees etc? Heard if you use slowest option it seems to go through fine, not sure how true that is however. Dealbreaker for me if I get slapped on it

There's a known issue with 'ghost touch' with the Moto G4 and G4 Plus. Motorola customer service is atrocious. Having said that, Motorola belong to Lenovo so presumably can expect the same from them.

£170? Not really at a price where I'd risk it over say a Moto G4 just for the UK full compatibility. It's also a price I can pretty much get off ebay from Netherlands so would have no reason to buy through here if that's the case.

I was unlucky once when I bought something from Banggood & got charged the duty.

As for G4 vs Z2 ... it's no competition in term of performances.
I guess if compatibility is important then G4 is the right choice.

That's my problem, at £133 I'd happily take a punt regardless of compatibility because the specs to this are fantastic. But with orders from China etc I'm a worrier with customer service anyway, and at £170 I think I'd rather just play it safe with G4- especially considering right now I'm on a 1gb/8GB Moto G3 (I know). 10 + phones and 3 tablets from various different Chinese stores/sellers and not once had any customs charges. Just choose free delivery. You would have to be very unlucky to get any.

But if it worries you just stick to UK market phones.

I usually order small items from them & Gearbest (< £20). The time when I had to pay duty was for large items, an oscilloscope & soldering iron. Even with the extra cost, they were still much cheaper. That's how I calculate my risk/reward outcome.

My G3 just runs incredible slow unless I consistently clear cache and has nowhere near enough storage for apps, tried using a sd card for it but hardly any apps go there and don't want to root which is why I'm looking for an upgrade. I think I'll just take the risk anyway, for a Chinese company the reviews seem to be very high (8.5/10 Trustpilot) so hope I'm in safe hands. Motorola's customer service sucks. If you're going to buy a Moto G4 or G4 Plus I would definitely advise against buying direct from Motorola.

I would go with the P9, I have one and am very happy with it. I havent owned an Honor phone, but the P9 is a premium phone.

I bought mine a couple of months ago and got stung for import duty for the first time. I've ordered a few things from banggood in the past (as well as a phone for my wife's uncle shortly after my Z2) without having to pay anything extra. Just a bit hit and miss whether or not you'll be charged.

Luckily, the duty wasn't too much of an issue as banggood stated the value of the device was around 30 quid on the customs declaration so I was only charged on that valuation!

In response to an earlier question, Lineage OS is the 'Artist Formerly Known As Cyanogenmod'. Custom Android ROM with various bells and whistles, basically.

As I noted earlier, I'm not the biggest fan of ZUI and it doesn't support the expandable notifications which is one of the biggest features of Android 7 so I'll probably give Lineage OS a try at some point to test out this feature.

One thing I would say is that banggood will ship it with a custom-ish Android 6 ZUI ROM which you will probably want to change as you won't be able to automatically update to the Android 7 ZUI. Changing ROM is a bit of a faff, but not too difficult if you follow the guides on the zukfans forum.

These are normally made for the Chinese market. I think they don't use band 20.
I suspect they would have to buy the baseband processor & patent license from Qualcomm. This is expensive.
Qualcomm are being sued by regulators around the world at the moment for its dodgy practices.

This has band 3, and band 20 is only used with Three on new generation iphones or a selection of android handsets that are purchased directly from Three. If it had band 20 it would make no difference.

I have used this phone on Three and got great 4G coverage.

Nougat is not yet available for the Indian ROM and it may be a while.

It will come with a ROM that will not receive OTA updates - if you want Nougat then you will have to flash to the chinese ROM and allow it to update. I flashed the Indian ROM and it OTA updated but the Nougat update for this ROM is not expected immediately.

Have bought chinese phones before and not got hit- this phone I did have to pay around £11 :disappointed:

firstly its 64gb of storage - is not rom.
android 4/5/6/7 is not a rom either ..

Make sure your USB-C cables or adapters are correctly speced ... This is to protect your charger and/or phone.
For example, my laptop can output up to 5A on one of the USB ports which is not safe for the phone.

I got mine delivered on Monday 30th - ordered 17th Jan so wasn't too bad. Haven't had a proper play yet but the box was sealed and it has the Play store on. Still going to run some checks for any spyware just incase :-)

What checks did you do? I've ran a few apps to check for malware and nothing has came back but I can't really be certain. What guide did you use for flashing it? Might do it to be on the safe side and get the latest version of Android

​Just malware bytes. Though if yours has the ota in settings and it has updated to latest Indian rom then maybe they have started to flash that now instead. I followed instructions on zukfans.eu website. I have posted links in prior z2 threads already.

My google play has stopped downloading on my phone. Has anyone else experienced/fixed? I have tried deleting cache, removing play and play services but it doesn't want to work. I didn't ROM the phone as it came with Play etc and I am quite a novice. Thanks in advance
