I buy DEET products from millets when travelling to India, far more effective than this, not so great however if have sensitive skin and not to be inhaled of course. Used this in abundance and still got bitten.
Whether DEET should be legally available due to its potential environmental or health impacts is a whole different debate.
We fishermen know that the best midge & mosi repellent is................... Avon, "Skin so Soft" Woodland. Which also smells great.

Put it on your sink and it acts like Paint stripper?! Il give it a miss thanks. Grab a bit of eucalyptus oil, water, a little juice from a grated ginger or galanga (Thai ginger smells great)
And just spray a light mist over yourself. You'll smell great, insects will stay away and won't turn into a walking bottle of white spirit.

Word of warning, once on the skin the liquid will strip paint! The interior paint of the hired VW Golf ended up all over our arms and clothes.
