Here is how it played for me....

Ordered thursday night made £110 payment, and chose 5gb plan, collected from store (solihull) friday lunch time during break, asked customer advisor to setup and install sim, sim was activated in store.

Friday Evening I contacted O2 to cancel and he placed a cease on my account giving my 30 days notice and took another payment of £120, I then rang back 5 minutes later to customer service and asked for a disconnection, spent 5 mins on phone and my sim was then deactivated, I was advised of any further charges due to using my sim for a day.

Went to DC Unlock and paid £3.50 to find my network unlock code, had to enter my ee sim to provoke the network unlock code prompt and entered the code off dc unlocker software ( it would not unlock automatically using software)

Phone is now on unlocked and paid off and got it for £150 less than what they are being advertised at on pay as you go tariffs

thank you hotukdeals !

so it seems we are waiting on 02 to push Nougat to the handsets, which is annoying, Huawei are saying that they send the FW to 02 so over to them.... 02 are saying Q1, but you know these networks!

Not the most ideal, but you can convert the phone to cust version C432 and flash Nougat that way. It will require you to unlock the bootloader though...

Ordered this last week to be delivered in store.

No word so online chat told me Tuesday that it should be delivered Wednesday.
Nothing Wednesday, online chat said wait till Friday as this is a full week and is maximum it should take before they escalate it.
Friday online chat told me again it is on process and I have to wait until close of play.
This morning online chat say order cancelled. Why? Because they claim it was not collected after a week. They claim reminders sent via email and text (not received so very likely this is untrue). They say that, regardless of fact that their own customer service people did not seem to know it was actually in store on 3 different occasions, there is now nothing they can do. If I want it I have to pay non offer price of 390 odd. They offer 10 quid discount o a contract. Thoughts?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I've unlocked my phone and use with an EE SIM now. Will I get the Nougat update from them now or still O2?

4 Feb 17 #17
Don't worry, these offers come & go all the time (at least once every couple of months). The P10 may be released this April-June, so you can expect at least one more offer of this kind before then, so keep a lookout. The only chance of missing this kind of offer completely, is if they discontinue it for good, which happened to the P9 Plus version.

if you bought it from 02, then it is still a 02 bootloader, that just uses any sim, so the update has to come from 02

What do you see if you login to myO2? The support guys sounded very... unhelpful most of the time.

I ordered the phone on Jan-31 for store pickup. Their site mentioned I will have to wait for a week. On Feb-01 I received a text to say they are out of stock, and they are expecting more stock on Feb-03. On Feb-03 I login to myO2 and it stated the order is completed... :O

So far, I haven't receive any email or text about my order is ready for pickup :disappointed: might try my luck in the store on Monday...

1. Does it work fine with Androidpay?
2. Does it work OK with Anker quick charges, in car and portable battery pack?

Well I've got this email now- went onto webchat and they told me not to worry as the final bill will be generated 14 days after disconnection so just have to sit tight and wait for that to arrive
pibpob
6 Feb 17 #26
Yes - I did get a final bill and paid it over the phone (it wouldn't allow me to pay it online).
garyman1978
6 Feb 17 #27
How much was it if you don't mind me asking?

I only used the phone to call o2 which should be free but I noticed i'd somehow managed to use 1.1GB data

When I asked Webchat advisor if he could tell me how much my final bill will be, he said £10 !! I said I find that hard to people and he just kept on saying not to worry !
pibpob
6 Feb 17 #28
It's irrelevant how much you use it (unless you do something out of your allowance) as you pay for the number of days you have had the airtime contract.

Yes, but it'll charge at normal speed only as it is not Qualcomm Quick Charge certified (because it uses their own Kirin SoC).

You'll need one of their own branded fast chargers for it to charge at a faster rate - like one of these:

I know this is an expired thread but can anyone advise me please? I ordered the phone, immediately rang up when I collected it and requested the unlock code. Code finally arrived and today I rang to cancel my airtime contract and pay off the device plan. Despite being within my 14 day cooling off period, (12 days after I collected the phone) I'm told that I have to give 30 days notice and will therefore be charged for those 30 days at £25.
I queried this as I'm in the cooling off period and was told if I hadn't just paid off my device plan then I wouldn't have been charged the 30 day line rental. I was given the option of paying the 30 days line rental or returning the handset also and then they wouldn't charge me the 30 days rental.
Is this correct? Thanks in advance.
ArthurDent1
11 Feb 17 #35
If you cancelled the contract within 14 days you shouldn't need to give 30 days notice; O2 may charge you for the days you've had the SIM.
You should be charged pro-rata, so if you cancelled the contract 12 days after receiving the SIM you'll be charged 12/30 of the monthly tariff you signed up to.
That's what O2 told me anyway - but they couldn't explain why they're charging me £12.79, which is 21/30 of my £18 tariff when I cancelled on the 14th day after receiving the phone and SIM/18 days after ordering it online.
garyman1978
13 Feb 17 #36
I think its little wonder people don't bother with the hassle of these O2 refresh deals.

I got an email this morning from O2 saying my bill is ready and to the tune of £505.28 !!
ArthurDent1
13 Feb 17 #37
I got a similar bill (mines only £345 though). O2 are idiots. I know all mobile companies offer pretty poor customer service but O2 just seem to be spectacularly incompetent.

Las time I went through all this they ended up giving me £25 as an apology. I wasn't even an O2 customer by that stage so they paid it into my bank account.

I've tried going through their complaints service (back when I only had a bill for £18 plus a £3.50 late payment charge) and they called me to promise they'd cancelled my bill and there was nothing to pay. Now they've issued this bill I've gone through Resolver. Just follow the "How to Complain" link at the bottom of the page.
Crossbow
13 Feb 17 #38
Good little trick to use to further reduce the price of the phone & make them (O2) pay for a change

But I'm guessing one would have to make an official, written complaint (via Resolver or other means) for it to work?
ArthurDent1
13 Feb 17 #39
Use their own internal service first, if/when that fails go via Resolver. There's really not much to fill in. At the very least they might solve your problem. Then again, it's O2; they're so startlingly incompetent they might charge you more!
ArthurDent1
20 Feb 17 #40
My complaint to the internal service got me a phone call apologising and a promise that I had nothing to pay.
A week later I got ANOTHER bill so I complained through resolver.
I've now got an email promising me there really is nothing to pay and £30 paid into my bank account. So my daughter got her Huawei P9 for £199.99. Regretting not buying one for myself as well!
garymyliu
20 Feb 17 #41
I got an email this morning saying my bill is ready and its £13.98.

not convinced its right so will wait few more days and see what happens as I was told there's nothing to pay
ArthurDent1
20 Feb 17 #42
Just go straight to their website and use the complaint service at the bottom of the page. If they're issued a bill they won't change it, except to add a £3.50 late payment charge after 4 or 14 days (depending on their mood).
pibpob
20 Feb 17 #43
You have to pay for the number of days the airtime contract runs, whether you use it or not. That is logical, as it is a pay-monthly rather than a pay as you go arrangement. How long did you wait until cancelling the airtime contract?
Crossbow
20 Feb 17 #44
I don't know about that, as I took out a similar deal a couple of years ago & didn't use it at all - put my own SIM in the phone & used that from day one. When I queried the initial monthly airtime charge, they refunded me in full without fuss. So, at the very least, it's worth arguing for no charge if you haven't used it at all.

Also, worth noting here he was told 'there's nothing to pay'. That's what I was told as well once I'd paid off the device plan.
ArthurDent1
20 Feb 17 #45
Not if you cancel within 14 days apparently.
dahat
20 Feb 17 #46
You have 14 days to get out of the 24 month contract. You have to pay for what you use.

I got mine just as they were taking the DD in the monthly cycle so let the £18 be paid. I then got the final bill saying they owed me £12.79 and I claimed the refund which I received today.

If you are adamant on paying not one penny extra you could cancel everything on the first day...
pibpob
20 Feb 17 #47
Possibly if in addition you never insert the SIM card.
garymyliu
20 Feb 17 #48
By the time they recognised the sim on their system and me.getting the unlock code etc, it was 5 days when I first requested to be cancelled but they messed up. (see earlier post above).

I was told over the phone there wasnt anything to pay but im taking that with a pinch of salt
ken218
10 Mar 17 #49
Went through the process of cancelling the contact, and now in the process of resolving the issue of excessive final bill charge. Getting to the conclusion that the O2 refresh deals are really not worth all the hassles.
garymyliu
10 Mar 17 #50
You just reminded me that I've yet to receive my final bill from o2 who said I should get it by end of Feb and still not had anything but that would be my conclusion as well as posted earlier

Some good news guys about a Nougat update for O2's P9...

Another 1 week, O2 are finally releasing their own - from Kris_K at the O2 forums: community.o2.co.uk/t5/…/12

"I've got some good news from our device team, folks!

We've now approved the Nougat update for the Huawei P9 and P9 Lite and have sent this back to Huawei for schedule/release - typically this happens within 1-2 weeks, but sometimes sooner/later, so keep your eyes peeled and you'll hopefully have this soon.

P9 Plus customers, no new updates to share just yet - we're awaiting the new software to begin testing but once we've more details to share, we'll let you know."

On the next page, one says they've got it: "...Update just landed on my device. Updating as we speak...."
