There's been a few free video editors posted recently and I noticed HitFilm hasn't since the last version. This, imo, is the best free video editor currently available.
From the website:
2D and 3D effects compositing Compatible with Mac & Windows Over 180 visual effects Free video tutorials & training Editor with transitions & unlimited tracks
Okay..If free why all the BUY options for features?

Premiere Pro user and have been told that Resolve is the best free video editor. I know for colour grading that it's superb.
Might be worth noting for anyone else looking for a fully featured video editor.

I've not used Resolve but in comparison to Lightworks (which I have) I find HitFilm easier to use, especially if you only edit occasionally, whilst covering pretty much all the basic features you want plus quite a number of advanced ones.
One analogy may be Photoshop (Lightworks/Resolve/HitFilm Pro) to Photoshop Elements (HitFilm Express).
