A diploma for 10-15hours duration. I wonder why these certificates become meaningless.
Any qualification in photography is meaningless! You don't send your cv like everyone else you send your work..

...meaningless to the point you may have a slightly better chance of actually taking a better photo.

The course may be free, certification is not.. "A link to purchase your Diploma certificate will then appear under the My Certificates heading of your My Account page."

Does it say how much it would cost to purchase?

I think you get a pdf certificate but if you want a proper printed one with a seal to display on your wall you have to buy it.

Would these classes be suitable for people who keep asking on internet forums, about which lenses to take?

Thanks op the certification might be a joke but for those who want to learn about photography this looks like a good resource which would normally cost so have some heat.

Its a reinforcement of what was once regarded a worthy pass. 10 -15 hours should only warrant a certificate not a Diploma, hence the reason why Diplomas are worthless these days. No doubt you are a person who will brag they have a diploma from Harvard but in the real world its a joke.

I'm going to have a look for interest/ improve my photo for personal use, but does make me wonder why my part time yr long diploma involves 4 assessments, clinical exam and costs over £3000 + joining fee. Other courses may give s/o edge over competition tho and I think would be pretty cool to say from Harvard (when keeping up appearances on fb- just don't mention the other bits). Thanks for putting up and maybe I'll have a nice photo up here in 10-15hrs time ( or a Harvard certificate!!!!!)

Looks a good opportunity to learn about a variety of things - lots of courses.
Sure, the whole diploma/certification thing is something of a farce and I think anyone who believes that an employer would take it seriously are leading themselves to being disappointed. So enjoy the fact there's some content and if you learn something from it, well it didn't cost you anything. Especially if you set up a junk email address for the purpose so it can't mine your data :face_with_monocle:

True.
Would still be useful for everyone here to know the cost of the certificate though, if anyone knows.

I've just passed the final test without "completing" all the videos. Just to notice that it's a 2009 course so very old for Digital photography, they didn't spoke of my Sony alpha7 ;-)
Anyway from their website when you pass the test: Please see all prices below:
UPDATE: It turns out Harvard isn’t affiliated with the ALISON version of this course. Harvard’s course materials are available through this website http://digitalphotography.exposed/ , and it seems that ALISON took the CC-licensed materials and is offering it as a free course through its service.
Sorry but NO Harvard diploma ;-) So it's better to go to the official website http://digitalphotography.exposed/ as the lessons are from 2015.

Great idea, even if it only serves to save some wasted battery power.due to the.correct use of flash! How many times at large scale events, concerts and the like do you see phones and digital cameras trying to take pictures of the action from almost a quarter of a mile away using their Flash in the vain hope that it might illuminate the object of their desire! In truth, the fact that the flash is deployed actually detracts from the finished masterpiece! X)

If it gives some (like me) a chance to understand the art of it a little bit then its no bad thing, oh and free too unlike Shaw Academy.
