Seems like a decent price for a 1070 with decent clock speeds. Admittedly only 2 fans but Pascal runs fairly cool. Fans are 90mm and go off when not under load.

Second Amazon 1070 drop today, seems yesterdays Vega showing is making retailers want to shift 1070 stock?
Good price still and I voted hot, but think ill stick with my 970 for a little longer and see what happens.

Maybe the retailers assumed AMD + Nvidia showed something substantial at CES but didn't actually bother checking? haha
Went for the EVGA one this morning. This one is still a fair price though. This one wouldn't fit in my case so fortunately I was lucky and got the other one.

Not, really. Vegas wasn't fully shown. doesn't look like it will be ready until later this year. Also AMD didn't have any annocuments regarding the specs.

oh damn. I guess buying that 1080 before Christmas was a mistake :disappointed:

Is this better than the EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 8 GB SC ACX 3.0 Black Edition that was on sale at Amazon few hours ago?

All the 1070s with 2 or 3 fans are about the same. i.e. as long as they have sufficient cooling, they all have similar overclocking ability since the Pascal CPUs are not limited by temperature but by the voltage cap put in place by Nvidia. Overclocking capacity on all 1070s is limited to about 5% anyway due to the Nvidia turbo boost 3.0 that automatically ups the clock speeds if there is headroom. As a result, benchmarks show much less variation between models than was the case for the 9XX-series of cards.

Oh no, I just bought a 480, have I just made a timing mistake and there'll be lots of price drops with a new announcement?
BurkusCat to dreamager
6 Jan 17#9
The 480 already has competition at that level so the prices of 460-480/1050-1060 are all good. Any new announcements are only likely to affect 1070s and 1080s. But the price of the EVGA card and this one are good, these prices will become more common over the next few months.

If you spent around £200 for the 8GB 480 with Civ VI (i.e. you bought it more than a day ago), then I think you got a very good deal that isn't going to be significantly surpassed for the foreseeable future, and should be a good card for a couple of years at least.
(I don't think 'Brexit renege and subsequent 25% boost to GBP' counts as foreseeable!) :man:

Just coincidence that the day after Amazon have 2 big 1070 price drops to levels that haven't been seen before except for the crazy 295 Ebuyer deal?
If (and thats a big if) vega can compete, then things could get interesting.
Complete guess work, but im happy to stick with my 970 until its clear, for anyone needing a card now, this was a good price.

I think the price drop is mainly due to nvidia not selling enough . the people who wanted one have already got them. looks like it might be a price drop. I've seen it in the US stores as well.

It's not really a price drop, we've had lots and lots of £340-350 1070s since its launch. The £337 deal from a few hours ago is a £3 drop from the £340 deals we've had previously - less than 1%.
(Slightly off-topic, but personally, I'm more excited by Ryzen than Vega. I know, I know, once third-parties start benching it then it'll most likely be shown up as a damp squib for gaming. But what if it isn't? WHAT IF IT ISN'T?!)

For a bit of perspective, I paid £295 delivered for an open box 1070 G1 Gaming from Amazon.fr "reconditionee" = warehouse in mid December.

That`s a great deal!! Good catch!
(I wanted to buy a 1060 6gb or rx480 8gb for under £200 but I missed the black friday deals and now they are well above £200, so I think a little bit more a 1070 is better, eventhough it doesn`t looks much better built or anything spec. Paying just for the chip I guess.)
