I think a GTX1050 is a fairer comparison than a 3 year old Geforce 700 series. The 1050 wins btw, even with less memory. But even then neither of these cards are the greatest bang for buck.

Those are the cheapest prices I could find on a quick search and those are for 2GB cards, if we go into 4GB models, then GTX 750 would be £20 more and GTX 1050 £40 more than this 4GB RX 460.
Now do you need 4GB card is completely different question.

In June I was running Xeon E5450 8GB DDR3 with 256GB SSD and GTX 750TI of good 255W PSU (whole system was modded office PC), back then I could not wish for better GPU.
There are better cards for the same price or less, but they will require more power. This type of card would be for somebody who wants to game a bit, does not want to spend a lot and still keep their old or office PC.

This is now hot, so assuming someone can tell me how to order for the price? Is there a code or something, or is the price just wrong and it can't be bought for that? I don't live in Huddersfield, thanks.

I don't really get your last comment, for the price bracket, power consumption and power needs of these cards what else competes? and from what i have seen, most agree that the RX 460 is the better buy over the 1050 ti

The GTX1050 2GB is about £5 more on a quick glance around but it's still 10 percent faster on average even with less memory.

Whether this level of card really needs the extra memory is debatable, but it appears to not impact the tests that put the GTX1050 2GB distinctly ahead against a 4GB RX 460.

If you need a card for a small HTPC or low power and this is your budget then your options are obviously immediately narrowed.

However I will be THAT guy and say if it is just the budget and not the power that is the issue then look for something used.

Sorry but the RX 460 cannot beat the 1050 let alone the Ti. Don't know where you think you read most people say it is a better buy. Ones that can't read graphs perhaps.

I have an old hp prodesk 400 g1 sff which is very limited in space and power-
Also I don't know a great deal about upgrades-
Assuming I could fit this in- would it firstly improve graphics (compared to inbuilt) and secondly be able to handle limited power-
Or would I be better going for different card- I would prefer to avoid upgrading power supply- as I believe this is difficult in this case-

Great deal for this card and great entry level card. This is also faster than the 1050 with the new drivers so no competition there. Rule of thumb is AMD is better than Nvidia at every price point except for at 1070 1080 level

Yes, and both seem to require 75W so I think the power from the motherboard will be enough. I have a Dell T20 (also picked up due to a deal on this site) and due to power constraints, a 1050ti will probably be my next card.

1050ti is faster. Standard versions do not require additional power besides the motherboard slot. BUT some Ti versions do have 6 pin power connections, particularly overclocked ones. So pay attention if you buy. 1050ti is essentially the fastest slot power only card going at the moment.

I believe that for them who live in NI or Scottish isles (which are part of UK), postage cost is even more expensive than for mainland UK. Therefor end price would vary even more, so if the header would state £107.92 delivered wouldn't that be misleading towards them? Which ever way, item price itself does not change, weather you choose delivery or pick up, so nothing misleading IMO.

Actually 75W or less. PCI Express slot maximum output is 75W: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PCI_Express RX 460 might not be as power efficient as GTX 750TI (less power consumption while playing the same titles), but without external power they both will have the same maximum power draw.

Granted, this is the ASUS version however the Gigabyte one should be similar.

actually these cards are the greatest bang for buck. they aren't the best cards obviously but by a power to price ratio these cards comfortably come top which would fit the saying "Bang for buck" perfectly.

An RX480 for example is a minimum of twice as fast as this card but you have been able get one for less than twice this price delivered. They are therefore not really top in a price to performance ratio, especially when you factor in higher end cards frequently are offered with free recent game codes that lower end cards typically lack. It should also be considered that compared to older but faster cards that often crop up or have stock cleared when the new cards launch, they are inferior from a price/performance ratio.

These cards are mostly for light gaming and probably the bare minimum you should purchase new, and will be quickly outdated for that purpose. Which is why when I judge cards I consider whether they are really good for the money. RX 460 is mediocre at best in this sense. £110 mediocrity. RX 470 is a much better proposition and offers a considerably superior experience on modern games, well worthy of the extra money. £175 quality. As long as you are not power and size constrained of course......
