Buy a subway plastic coffee cup for £1 and get a free refill each time you get a 6" sub or salad. I'd always buy a salad and coffee, so saves me money each time I'm in now.

It's not free coffee for a year when you buy A 6" sub, it's a free coffee every time you buy a 6"sub

Neither of these suggestions resolves the nuisance of the plastic cup!

No, they're decent plastic ones with a rubber seal in the lid. If they don't have them out on the counter, they probably don't do the offer.

Some people may pop in every morning for their cuppa on the way to work. I guess it would be a saving for them?

O_o My subway doesn't do this then, thought it was just the generic Coffe Cups they use in Subway!

Think point is that need to take it into the shop each time to qualify for free top up. I'm certainly not going to be carrying a plastic cup around on off chance that I may pop into subway

You can get a 6 inch Sub for £3 + a hot drink anyway... wheres the saving ?

Lets be realistic, you won't be able to keep it in decent shape for more than a few days at most.
Also, the cashier could always refuse.

It'll stay in shape forever unless you treat it dreadfully. It's hard plastic, good quality.

I have eaten the odd Subway when there is no alternative, but much prefer a decent independent sandwich shop. The last Subway I visited had a sign up saying all our meat is Halal, so I will not use them any more, a very cruel method of slaughter in my opinion.

Agreed. This is subversive advertising by Subway. I don't think the population can resist going to a Subway if they see such a cup, I know I can't. This could lead to the collapse of cafes' infrastructure as we know it. Oh well, It was nice knowing you Starbucks, Costa etc.

I've never heard of it or seen it limited to 1 year. I don't think it is, seems like free coffee for a year sounds better than free coffee with every sub bought :smirk:.
I like to use it for a coffee with a sausage sandwich, making it £1.50 instead of £2, a 50p saving per visit. Lunchtime subs are less of a saving as the meal deals make the coffee only 10p or so more anyway.... Also note, not all subways participate. Even if you've already bought the mug, if they don't participate they won't hand over a free beverage so ask first.

I've got one. Keep it in my van. You could just take it when you want a sandwich, rather than all the time? Good quality cup, you can take the rubber sleeve off if youd rather not advertise. Btw, didn't know it war only for a year? Where does it say that? How do they know?

Good point how do they know you've been getting free drinks for a year, the only thing I can think is that it is a limited time promotion for a year from the start

Maybe they should produce a collapsible or foldable cup so to remedy this issue, but like the man with the van said I guess it's really only practical if you carry it about in your vehicle and only go to subway when you drive

We should reconvene in 12 months to admire pictures of these decrepit vessels.
I might buy one, I could put a secret trap door in the bottom of the cup and cause a right mess!

I can hardly be bothered to carry my clubcard around with me, or a reusable plastic bag. I suppose it's a good deal if you live/work next door to a Subway, or if you're mental enough to carry a cup around with you everywhere you go

You could always, you know, pay for a coffee instead :smirk: Nothing in life is "free"
MBeeching
21 Jan 174#12
Does it? I can't quite picture myself clutching this cup on my way to Subway (or gleefully waving it in the cashier's face).
Perhaps I could put it in a bag, but when I've finished I'm left holding the cup or putting a moist container into said bag.

I thought u usually get a free drink/coffee for a 3 quid 6" sub? Are they not doing this deal anymore?
callum84
21 Jan 175#10
I wouldnt see a cup of coffee as compensation for carrying around a subway advertisment all day.
And its only free if you buy a sub. What if you fancy a burger and pint elsewhere? You cant then go get a free coffee and youv'e carried the cup for nothing.
Daft idea.
