I've just received this printer, sick to death of them packing up after a couple of years so I went for the cheapest one. Haven't set it up yet so can't comment on the print quality

I wish people would put ink costs as well, as that all that matters.
And Epson are notoriously expensive, and do everything they can to stop you using compatibles

Must say I've had the complete opposite experience.
Puchased an Epson Stylus PX730WD back in Dec 2012. Picked up four full sets of compatible cartridges from a third party seller on Amazon.
Paid £17.99 back then. The price has since dropped to £14.45
Granted I'm not a heavy user as I also have a mono laser printer but I'm yet to finish those cartridges.
I've held my breath each time that the printer has downloaded a new firmware/software update in case these compatible cartridges suddenly stop working but touch wood, that has not happened.
Sold the original Epson cartridges for a nice price on evilbay and had money left over after purchasing the compatibles, enough to purchase maybe another eight full sets!
Couldn't be happier with my decision.
YMMV.

Epson compatible cartridges off eBay work just fine for my Epson PX710

Inks are less than £5 for a full set for compatibles, I haven't had any problems with mine other than a nag box that reminds you they're not genuine epson inks.

if you dont print that much a laser printer is the only way, inkjets dry up otherwise.,

I'm sure the compatibles or refills are what break
my printers so I went hp this time, subscription ink £1.99 per month if you print 50 pages, plenty for most home users.

Epson XP335 All in One £29 at Tesco Direct. Free C&C. Has Apple AirPrint.
Replacement ink is £17.99 for full set which apparently does around 450 pages according to information.
thanks, it was more the lower end ones i was struggling with, i think all i could find was a .5 extra page speed per minute between the 3!

Lasers have come down in price, and offer far better value over inkjets, the ricoh ones offered her, mono and colour are fantastic deals.
All you need is a scanner, to compare with an all in one inkjet.
If you have an inkjet check out alliexpress
for replacement cartridges, you have to be willing to wait for delivery but offer some cheap deals.
