Not sure how this will go down but if it helps even one or two people thats all that matters.
I believe this deal is for existing EE data SIM holders, as I just received a txt from EE which reads:
Hi [Name], as you're enjoying your 4GEE Data SIM, why not crank up your data allowance by moving to a 12-month plan. Get 64GB data for £16.10 a month. Call to discuss: 08009563104
I took out the rolling 30 day data SIM contract that appeared on HUKD of 32gb of data for £14.50 which became pretty hot.
For an extra £1.60 to get double the allowance albeit at the drawback of locking in for 12 months seems fairly reasonable....

Thanks for the info. Apologies, was unaware of any possible exclusivity around this deal (other than holding an existing data SIM contract of course). I've uploaded a screenshot of my SMS thread for EE (it's not house kept as you can see) to allay any potential doubt as to the deals' authenticity.
Hopefully the SMS will start to trickle through to people gradually. Also just wondering if there may be an 'inventive' way you could provide "proof" of the SMS to EE to take advantage of the deal.....? (Just thinking aloud... :sunglasses:

Good question! Should have mentioned that.... It actually came to my Personal Mobile contract number and NOT my data SIM number.
However my two accounts are linked under my "MyEE" online account.
So maybe if you haven't added both your EE (Mobile and Data) contracts to an online account or if you have an EE data SIM only, it might be worth logging in to check your txt messages on your existing data SIM number.

This deal is definitely real. I was one of the first to phone, I was advised that somebody has made a mistake and the deal should have been £26.10. After speaking to his manager the deal was honoured and I now have 64gb. The threads above are correct, I had to send my email on to the advisor as proof. I have a mobile router, am not sure if it is exclusive to mobile devices only (excluding phones)

I too received this text message from EE on my 32Gb data sim, rang the number provided and spoke to an EE rep. He stated that the offer should have been 64Gb for £26.10, but someone at EE has "cocked up" - "we will have to honour the offer" providing I sent a copy of the offer message.
I should be upgraded to 64Gb by this time tomorrow at the latest!

Ok, so have just taken out the deal myself, here is how the conversation went and what I found out:
Spoke to a lovely, really helpful Welsh girl. She said the phones have been going a bit mad with the deal and there has been a lot of confusion (on their part) as the call center staff were not briefed on the deal before the txt's went out to customers. She even said they were all laughing about the deal when the first calls came through as the staff thought it was too cheap to be a genuine deal. An assumption was that it was some kind of third party that was offering the deal.
I started by reading the txt out to her word for word and I was NOT asked for proof of the txt
She then advised that "management had gotten to the bottom of it and provided a 'workaround' on their systems". (It sounds very much like there has been an admin error of sorts although she did not explicitly say this).
She said the original price was £29 and they were able to offer a 10% as standard bringing it to £26.10. She then had to apply a manual override of some sort to discount it by another £10 to bring it to £16.10 (she was mumbling in a narrative manner on what she was physically doing on her system, which is how I know).
Sounds like the 'left hand' now knows what the 'right hand' is doing at EE cust services so everyone should have more success if they try again now.
Can't fault their customer service at EE, very pleasant to speak to and made the changes to my contract within minutes after reading the usual legal waffle stuff. Very pleased with the deal.

I'm currently on the offer from last year of 50gb that works out at around £24.75 per month... might try for this great deal, but I'm sure this was 12 month contract which I think still has a month or 2 left to go, so bet I won't be able to change onto this deal :disappointed:

Yup this I see is the problem, contract offers are only during contract and revert to standard price, in this it will be £30 then you go and negotiate a new deal as per usual.
MrSweeney
31 Jan 172#61
I agree, this could be an issue. However the main justification against ignoring this concern would be that in 12 months time, you would hope that larger data bundles like 64gb, 100gb etc should become more common place for cheaper prices. To the point where ideally 64gb a month for £16.10 wouldn't even be considered a great deal anymore.
Hopefully the rate at which technology and infrastructure advances (plus competition in the market) will allow this. There's no guarantee of course, especially if there is a zombie apocalypse in 12 months in which case a single Mb of data might cost you one of your kidneys.
Not to mention you're bound to be offered some kind of good deal when you phone up to cancel. There is always another deal just around the corner in most cases. For me, locking in double the data allowance for an extra £1.60 a month is worth it and I'll take my chances in 12 months time.
gilesrdavies
31 Jan 17#62
Wow, amazing deal, if you get it offered!
Its enough data for 95% of all the countries home broadband/fibre users to cancel their existing landline internet connections and switch.
Most land-line rentals cost more than this, before you even get internet, and with 4G speeds this will as fast as fibre!
Just get an old phone and constantly tether from it, to act as your home wi-fi hotspot around the house.

Ever the optimist thought I'd ask whether its UK only data or if there's any roaming included?
well i was with EE nearly 2 years plus and with orange before that,i used to have 20gb but then i switched to 3 for unlimited data ,may be i m lucky as i get good 4g indoor signal from 3 and i can use it for roaming too ,plus 30 gigs of tehther .Although EE is relatively fast network but i dont see much difference in speed in real life when playing videos on youtube or surfing...I think it comes down to personal preference as i like to have freedom of unlimited data as i dont use wifi much.

It may have helped that I also have my main mobile phone contract with EE.
They are also sending out a new MIFI device (not that I need it as I have a Huawei 593 router connected to an external twin aerial on a 5m mast pointed at the closest EE 4g transmitter in order to get a decent signal) I guess it will be useful for travelling.

Cheers op. Just rang them up and changed my rolling data contract (£14.40 per month for 25gb) for this deal.
I didn't even bother check whether I had received the text because my sim is in the office and I am working from home today ( I use my data in place of regular broadband at my office because BT were taking forever to fit and wanted to charge stupid money + did a speed check and its way quicker than my neighbor's conventional broadband ). The guy asked if I had confirmation and I just said er yeah?
I also said my mate got a mifi and could I please have one. He said no probs and said one is on its way in the post. Apparently a mini one whatever that is. Should be an upgrade on the dusty old LG I am using for a hotspot :smirk:
Thanks again.
A couple of things to note...
He clarified it goes to rolling contract after 12 months, but I forgot to ask at what price? Knowing EE it will go full-fat price so be careful. I will simply cancel if it goes up. Will log the date and keep an eye open.
I will also have to use a new sim as provided - dunno whether anyone else was told that or that is just for those getting the MIFI?.
He said that for the first 6 months the mifi is technically still the property of EE..
I also forgot to check if the speed was the same as my existing plan which is double speed. Has anyone checked this, can't believe I didn't.. I will be a bit gutted if its not!

Fantastic deal! I was on the 25GB for £14.99, which I thought was good...
So I've just been on the 'phone to EE on that number in the post. After he said 'how can I help you' I simply said that I "had a text in front of me offering to crank up my data allowance to 64GB for £16.10 a month, on a 12 month plan" (no lie - that text was on my PC screen, on this website).
He knew about the deal and after a few checks (account number, name, etc.) he put me on hold for a few minutes whilst he sorted it out.
Their system is apparently very busy at the moment :-)

Got meself this great deal this morning, so thank you op for your post! I asked about the free device that some have bagged, guy said yeah but I just had to pay £6.95 postage, ordered, delivery tomorrow.... I was made aware deal will show as 32gb for £29, but minus credits it will deffo be £16.10 with double data and I remember asking and checking that after the 12 months it goes up if I don't phone for another deal.... made up cos I'll be getting more data for less pennies... then confirmation email arrived but it said 24 months??!! I emailed my contact at EE who said cos I went for a device it's a 24 month contract, 12 months for those that don't take a free device thingy??? errrrrr what??!!
I wasn't too impressed that this hadn't been mentioned at all and a sharp email was sent, he confirmed it will be double data and stated offer price for the whole 24 months, he offered to cancel it if I wanted, as he said 12 months wasnt mentioned????? I haven't cancelled.... yet, cos it's such a great deal and does save me money,
... but been annoyed all day that I've either been fobbed off or it is indeed true if you have the free box it doubles the length of the contract?
EE have been absolutely brilliant all the years I've been with them, excellent customer service, on occasion if any hiccups they've been fantastic and nothing is ever too much trouble, always do their best to sort me great deals upon upgrade time, I have 5 phone lines with them and a long running data pack so do pay them enough...but has anyone else had this problem? or indeed double checked their confirmation email?
I'm feeling a bit done over to be honest, but then on the other hand I've got a cracking deal for 2 years so don't want to sound ungrateful!
Sorry if you blokes (and maybe women for that matter) have grown beards whilst reading my long winded post!! :smirk: xx

As promised, here is the proof. Plan shows as £29 12m Mobile Broadband, but it actually offers 64GB of data allowance (instead of the normal 32GB), of which 15GB can be used in the EU, each month, for £16.10.
This price is calculated as follows: £29 - 10% additional line discount - £10 loyalty discount = £16.10
I am glad I was able to take advantage of the offer without already having a data SIM contract. I only had a voice contract with EE, now I have a data contract too. SIM hasn't arrived yet, but it will in a couple of days. :sunglasses: http://imgur.com/Rl679jY http://imgur.com/JayAU50

rang ee about this deal spoke to a great chap Chris.
he explained it's a pulled back double data 32gb deal was meant to be £29 with multi line discount of -10% but miss-priced at *£16.10.
I had to send him a screen shot of the text (which I didn't receive)
I wrote out the exact wording of the pic earlier in this post, sent it to the misses and and asked her to send it back, renamed her contact as -EE- and took a screenshot and sent to them via email.
Chris called me back later saying because it's a new line he'd have to send a 32gb out then once I activate it in my device to email him and he will add on the double data via a midterm boost.

15GB can be used abroad to be aware.
I got my MiFi in the post today and a letter invoice saying £50, quickly checked my bank and had only paid the £6 delivery as discussed on the phone. Using my current 32GB SIM so no new SIM and My EE says 64GB left.
Guy said price wont be going up after 12 months except for the RPI, i logged the time and date of the call but they will 100% do me over and say oh we cant find that call, IT issues.
More worrying, my EE now says MBB Max Plan 24m £29.
This should be a 12month deal, anyone else had this problem? How did you sort it.

A few messages above, another user also got a device with the plan and mentioned that when they include a device, it is 24m contract. Price is correctly showing £29, as technically, it is the 32GB plan with some kind of override in their system to offer 64GB instead.
I've also been told, the offer does not expire.

Ah ****, i was not told this over the phone.
I'm not sure what to do. £16 for 64GB is unbeatable in todays market but in two years time... could be a terrible deal. Will have to wait until my bills come in to see if its discounted correctly and is only £16.10.
Have real issues with my Chinese knock off phone WileyFox Swift tethering and using the internet on it, so hoping this MiFi will help with that. Not having to switch data SIMS and turn the phone off and on again. Probably will put the SIM in my phone when out and about, dont fancy carrying the MiFi around with me in my pocket ha.
It's a real shame only 15GB in the EU as my parents could have used this for their internet if it was 64GB so they can watch Football/TV on Kodi, one game in HD uses 3GB of Data!

6 Feb 17#111
It is a really good deal regardless. Even in two years' time, it should not be bad in my opinion, but we shall see.
15GB EU data is for now, but in June 2017 the EU roaming regulation comes into effect and they might waive that. We will have more information closer the time.
That is of course as long as UK is a member of the EU or has a deal that includes roaming regulations.

Just tried to get this three times (via the call center/live agent etc) I was told each time that "no such deal exists" that "we only do 32GB at the most" and "I've been here for three years and have never heard of it" etc.
Can one of the more savvy HUKDers give me some pointers please?

Hi, did you manage to get this sorted mate?... cos my post a few above I'm in the same boat!.... Fuming! I've done nothing but praise EE customer services but the last lad I spoke to who did this "deal" has let them down big time!
I've been put on a 24 month deal "because I asked for a device" ???? WTF....Erm all I said was oh I believe a few people have asked for an updated device and they've got one for free, so if poss can I have one please.... yeah not a problem I was told..... so upon discovering Ive been put on a 24 mth contract I emailed him straight away but his email replies were utterly unacceptable, saying I never asked or mentioned 12 months, and its 24months if you ask for a device?????..... disgraceful sales tactics there!!!!..... so had a roll of snotty emails between us, he came across as couldnt give a **** but in the end as much as I'd have loved to strangle him for obviously just doing/saying whatever he felt like to bag a 24 month sale, and fuming for feeling a bit done over I thought oh well it's a great deal for 2 years now instead of 12 months, (he confirmed deal will run for the full 24 months) and I was saving money at the end of the day so didn't cancel...... THEN 2 wifi devices turned up???..... had to email him again and question this cos it was 2 separate orders that were put through and thought I might get charged double each month.... was told literally "must be a warehouse error" very blunt rude replies....still waiting for a reply to my last email...... so this evening I've just checked my bill and surprise surprise there's no sight of the £10 credit we are supposed to get credited each month cos the deal was £29 minus 10% =£26.10, then the tenner credit to make it the cock up price of £16.10..... God it makes my blood boil when things go wrong and credits you are promised don't appear, it's just not on, so tomorrow now I've got to waste my time phoning to sort this whole unnecessary carry on out.....
Great deal, not knocking your post OP, not your fault when things go t!ts up!

It sounds like a billing error. They should have definitely added the £10 credit and bring it down to a total of £16.10.
If worse comes to worse, you can make an official complaint in which they will be forced to listen to the recording and if they claim they've lost it then they have no proof of you agreeing to anything, therefore you should be free to go. It is only the hassle that makes the whole thing difficult.
My bill will be generated later this month along with my main line.

Just got my bill and i'm getting charged my old rate of £14.10 and still getting 64gb bonus
Opening post

Hopefully the SMS will start to trickle through to people gradually. Also just wondering if there may be an 'inventive' way you could provide "proof" of the SMS to EE to take advantage of the deal.....? (Just thinking aloud... :sunglasses:

I'm going to take EE up on their kind offer. ^_^
I'm sad and I watch K-Dramas at work, 64Gb is a lot of drama at 360p. ^__^
However my two accounts are linked under my "MyEE" online account.
So maybe if you haven't added both your EE (Mobile and Data) contracts to an online account or if you have an EE data SIM only, it might be worth logging in to check your txt messages on your existing data SIM number.
I should be upgraded to 64Gb by this time tomorrow at the latest!
Called 150 (from my other EE line) and explained the text message. Got the "it's a typo" and should be £26.10 however they honoured it and it went straight through. Bargain, very happy. Cheers OP !
Q: can someone please tell me how to read messages that get sent to my data box?
The symbol lights up with the message icon but it never duplicates to my mobile number so I can read it on my phone?? thanks xx
Thanks for drawing our attention to this op
They are a mobile network provider....
... Unless of course you are a cliché New York police detective from a 50's black and white film.
If my memory serves me right the rolling monthly 32GB for £14.50 was indefinitely at that price (except for inflation increases).
"Price stays at £14.50pm until user cancels contract"
Hopefully the rate at which technology and infrastructure advances (plus competition in the market) will allow this. There's no guarantee of course, especially if there is a zombie apocalypse in 12 months in which case a single Mb of data might cost you one of your kidneys.
Not to mention you're bound to be offered some kind of good deal when you phone up to cancel. There is always another deal just around the corner in most cases. For me, locking in double the data allowance for an extra £1.60 a month is worth it and I'll take my chances in 12 months time.
I'm going to guess I won't be offered anything
Looks like you can only get the deal now if you actually received the message
Looks like you can only get the deal now if you actually received the message
He confirmed this is 12 month only and after this it will automatically go upto £29a month
I called them as I was on 32GB for £14.50
Guy told me that it is impossible that such a deal exists. I told him that I've seen it on the internet, so he told me that he will talk with someone about it. After 3mins on hold he got back to me saying that this price was an error but since I've been couple of months with them already they will honour it and they will give it to me as well. :smirk:
So I've just been on the 'phone to EE on that number in the post. After he said 'how can I help you' I simply said that I "had a text in front of me offering to crank up my data allowance to 64GB for £16.10 a month, on a 12 month plan" (no lie - that text was on my PC screen, on this website).
He knew about the deal and after a few checks (account number, name, etc.) he put me on hold for a few minutes whilst he sorted it out.
Their system is apparently very busy at the moment :-)
They were happy to give me the offer. They added an additional line to my account and the SIM will arrive in 3-5 days. I will post back when I receive it.
:smirk: xx
:sunglasses:

he explained it's a pulled back double data 32gb deal was meant to be £29 with multi line discount of -10% but miss-priced at *£16.10.
I had to send him a screen shot of the text (which I didn't receive)
I wrote out the exact wording of the pic earlier in this post, sent it to the misses and and asked her to send it back, renamed her contact as -EE- and took a screenshot and sent to them via email.
Chris called me back later saying because it's a new line he'd have to send a 32gb out then once I activate it in my device to email him and he will add on the double data via a midterm boost.
new line added and sim in the post
I got my MiFi in the post today and a letter invoice saying £50, quickly checked my bank and had only paid the £6 delivery as discussed on the phone. Using my current 32GB SIM so no new SIM and My EE says 64GB left.

Called them and they said it was an error and would be taken off, but told me to check the direct debit in a few days to make sure.
The plan shows as 32GB but in the add-ons section a Double Data entry appears which is how their system allows 64GB instead.
