For anyone wanting to add this (or any other Windows Store game) to Steam, I recently found the following tool. Unlike standard x86 games, Windows Store apps are hidden and obscure, and do not have .EXE files to run per se. This tool adds the games as non-Steam apps, and I find it much easier to have all my games listed in one place (and it allows them to be played with Steams In-Home Streaming):

DR4 is supposed to be getting a steam release somewhere down the line from memory.

No, it's been confirmed it's a play anywhere title.

However, unlike DR4, you will be able to buy RE7 on Steam on release - so I doubt very few people will actually buy from the Windows Store.

I think RE7 is just cross platform saves, not play anywhere.

Sadly it was all first party titles. Dead Rising 4 isn't one of them and as far as I'm aware Microsoft has no exclusivity deal with Capcom this time around regardless. Resi 7 is the interesting one - as that's the first multi-platform game thats play anywhere from memory.

Games for Windows Live really wasn't as bad as people made out... its just at the time Steam was by far the more competent platform (this was before Origin, Uplay etc). The actual DRM methods for a few of the games (SecuROM) seemed to be the main issue from personal experience.

Yes, the Windows Store is terrible. I got this and left it to download. The next day Windows was complaining that my boot SSD was full, checked and there was less than 500mb left, yes Windows Store decided to install it to the C drive regardless of the available space.

After the travesty that was Games for Windows Live, I really don't understand why they didn't just accept that most PC gamers want to use Steam and nothing but Steam for games and put their games on there.

The one thing about Windows store that had real promise was play anywhere but they have already broken their promise to make all future games play anywhere with this one....

Itr's terribly done, seems unfair to compare it steam but it's the standard bearer. You'd think microsoft could come up with something beetter it's all so basic and cumbersome. Worth putting up with for the price of this though! logged many an hour so far and absolutely loving the game.

Had a similar issue myself. Its weird though - every other game I've tried to download has actually let me select location before it started. Pain in the ass.

No worries. For some reason Microsoft stores their apps in a really obscure location (hidden folder). Also had a nightmare downloading this. It didn't let me select the drive so it auto-downloaded to my SSD (boot) and then ran out of space at like 3GB left to go, when it tells you to select a new drive, it doesn't migrate what it already downloaded, and starts again from 0. Ended up finding the file location to see if I could manually move it then ran into 10000 other issues. You think of all people, MS should know how to utilise the capability of Windows.

Edit: Or I was. Hitting the start button to bring up the desktop and then going back into the game seemed to get me round it.

I struggled with this and kept getting an error when trying to pay for the item on the Store - trying to set up a Swiss payment option whilst trying to pay for the game. The way I got it work was to add a Swiss payment option to my MS account prior to heading to the Swiss MS store. I used Paypal. It was still working last night.

My game returns to desktop after splash screen. Sometimes a black game window flashes up but then nothing. Anyone else experiencing similar issues?

Re downloading it did not solve the issue.

I re installed windows, latst Nvidia drivers and re downloaded the game. Still no luck - exact same issue.
Im thinking that the game does not support phenom processors (like dishonoured 2).
Has anyone got this working on a Phenom CPU?

Is anybody stuck on the Capcom loading screen?

Yes, after an about an hour and a half I finally got to the root of the issue, you have to go to disk cleanup and delete delivery optimisation files

I had a nightmare downloading Gears of War 4 via the store, over 50GB on ADSL is not a fun experience. There is a method of deleting the Windows Store cache which may help - can't remember the process but if you google issues with the Windows store I'm sure you'll find lots of things to try!

I wouldn't worry about that. The Windows Store unfortunately downloads all DLC for every game as an update, whether or not you actually buy the DLC. You could just buy the base game and it would still auto-download the addons. It's annoying really because it just wastes bandwidth and HDD space.

with vsync on i kept getting crashes after the cutscene before the mall (i5 7600k 1070 16gb dom 4 ram)

Worked fine for me - and this is coming from someone who can never get paypal to work on the Windows Store let alone foreign stores.

Cant actually get the game to download. Was working last night, got halfway, but now its giving me a 0x80073cf9 and nothing seems to fix it

Ugh didnt realise games from the windows app was such a pain.
No overlay for FPS and temp counter
Game is running under BORDERLESS so you have to manually change the program to high priority in task manager (also explains why the game alt tabs so quickly)
I'm getting a tiny bit of stutter and seem to struggle with loading screen.
Probably because I'm using an ageing FX6300 :stuck_out_tongue:

Find the name of the .exe while it's running (open task manager with Ctrl+shift+esc). You can right click the running application and then select "Open File Location". The .exe should be highlighted in your File Explorer as it opens. Right Click>Create Shortcut.

Can't comment on the ending/value of the game+season pass at full price, but purely the technical aspect, which is what the previous comment was highlighting from the Reviews. To be fair they almost put me off buying it, some saying it was similar to the Arkham Knight Port, a game I bypassed on PC due to the users reporting poor Framerates etc. I am just glad I didn't listen on this instance as its a Silky Smooth 60fps for me!!

Awesome find! Just bought it using my Halifax Card.

I opened settings in Win 10, then changed region to Switzerland
Opened the store link which showed CHF 10.00
Went to buy via Credit Card and inputted my details as normal
Then at the address I used my own street / town as normal then 1023 for postcode.
Downloading as we speak :smiley:

From what I've seen I'd be pretty **** if I paid £40 for it and had to pay extra for the "real ending", and the lack of play anywhere is a questionable decision. But at less than a tenner you really can't complain :stuck_out_tongue:

Don't believe the reviews. My PC runs it perfectly and . only running an i5 2500k and gtx 970. people are probably being dishonest in hope that they get a refund but keep the game.

Worked for me 20 minutes ago, set region to Switzerland in windows, add a swiss address at payment

The reason for this is probably due to it being a timed exclusive only (It's coming to PS4) and not a pure Microsoft exclusive

I go into my games library, and the option to install is greyed out, and a little exclamation mark is against my purchase, which says that the game can't be played on my device (laptop).

Play anywhere means if you buy digitally you get it working on both pc and Xbox one for one price.
Xbox exclusives normally do this, but for some reason this doesn't.
Then you get cod that didn't, but the new resident evil is.
So it's a case of research I suppose.

It is linked to your email address, and yes as long as you log in using the same email on the new pc you can download everything.

Miine is working great on max settings. Played for a couple of hours with no issues.

At the very start of the game it goes into slow-mo every now and then - just incase you thought this was a performance issue.

FYI - If you have nvidia card and do not have a gsync monitor, go into nvidia control panel and enable 'Fast' under Vertical Sync (Under 3D Settings > Manage 3D settings > Global Settings.). This basically does the same thing as gsync and it gets rid of stutter and I found it to be better than regular vsync.

Man :disappointed:....I saw option to change camera sensitivty (im blind lol) and that's much better but stuttering has gotten worse and is practically unplayable.

Managed to purchase it but when I go to install it says "Error - Something happened on our end", anyone any ideas how to fix?

Not really any stutter but it hates being left for a while on pause, it's like it's crashed and then kicks back in after 30 seconds.

Strange thing is I always thought direct x12 was meant to be a game changer but the only game to run flawless for me was gears of war 4.

Anyone having realy bad stuttering issues? Most settings on high and stuttering ruining it! The sensitivity is way too low and way of changing it.

After I had set up my payment method, I had to enter an address. On this screen I just had my orignal address and I just changed my postcode to a fake switzerland one. Hope this helps

Seems you have to keep your region set to Switzerland in windows or it just won't load. That's the case for me anyway.

Paypal works as long as you do it from the Windows Store desktop app. (You need to change your region/country to Switzerland to see Swiss prices though).

PayPal with a Swiss VPN has also been recorded as successful.

Dammit, can't buy it via my phone and I'm not at home. Most likely be revoked and maybe a £10 refund issued, but stilk worth a shot.

It's been live for a fair few hours now. Apparently, PayPal is a no go. Credit cards are been rejected due to (I can only imagine) address checks (I think the checkout address requires a Swiss address).

This has left, for those with the above problems, to resort to purchasing Swiss Credit from wherever and checking out that way.
