Not as good as the 32gb for £87 the other day but still quite good but seems nobody got that.

Cancelled the rest of a PC build order from Amazon because of this. Really not happy to be honest, live support refusing to honour it so will take £600 of sales elsewhere :smirk:

Tell that to the Wind Waker HD texture pack. If I want to prefetch custom textures into RAM to prevent stutter I need a spare 24GB.

Yes, for Photoshop and anything of the like it comes in handy, but for games or general desktop work, not at all, yet I see people wasting their money all the time.

according to reviews, this ram overclocks quite well but more progress is made by tightening the timings as opposed to increasing the speed

9 Jan 17#33
for the latest Intel systems you need 16gb of the FASTEST ram you can afford, as it really does improve fps - 32gb of slower RAM is pointless for gaming

only when gaming at lower resolutions such as 1080p, at 1440p and above theres no difference as the gpu is usually the bottleneck. even with faster ram, the difference is only a few frames on average and unless the price difference is only a few quid, the money is better off going towards a gpu https://youtu.be/LjFu-onLA68

for the average gamer 16gb is more than enough (atm). I use, photoshop, 3d and other demanding apps, and the added flexibility you get with 32 or 64 gb is worth it

Expired. Damn, wish I got in on this!
Current pricing makes no sense as it's now £248.43 for 4x8Gb or it's £108.90 for 2x8GB

Darn it, have just bought 16gb 3200 for £106. I don't really need anymore I don't think but any advice on whether it'll be worth switching to this 32gb set for a gamer/streamer/general web user?

Probably not worth the upgrade. Ill be selling my 16gb 2666mhz that I'm replacing from my deal if you're interested for about 70.

We already have 8GB on phones and most people don't need anymore than that for desktop computing. Watch this space I say.

Fair enough, I know some home labs can get compute hungry..I just find it interesting what people are doing with it as I work in IT and customers don't run even heavy production VMs on anywhere near that much.

Nothing, I just did it because I could.
I did have a 30GB RAM drive set up to play Fallout 4 when it first came out, I just don't like the idea of dropping down from what I've got at the moment, I know I wouldn't notice any drop in performance.

The only people who need 64GB will be in industry or academia... image/video processing, rendering, number-crunching, etc. For desktop users and gamers though 64GB is just absurd, and will remain so for some time yet. Maybe years from now it will be the norm, but we'll have moved on from DDR4 by then.

64gb should be become the sweet spot this year between insane prices and the actual need to have 64gb ..

Adobe After Effects, Premiere, Photoshop and 3DS Max for me, but one guy who posted on the other ram deal was studying for his doctorate and he wanted to run some serious DNA simulation app that laughed at his hex core 128gb setup.

Yeah I can confirm mine have been despatched too. I was one of the many who ordered the G-skill ripjaws the other day, but as mentioned, looks like most got cancelled. I also checked and these are compatible with asus x99 boards. Thanks op!

I've been toying with the idea of upgrading my X58 setup for the past few months, this could just about tip me over the edge, if they honour it then I guess I'm on the slippery slope of upgrade addiction again. Might order 2, 32GB is more than enough but I don't know if I can drop down from 48GB.

There was one a few days ago for £87, I dont know the if the Op is maybe referring to that? That deal never went through for anyone that ordered, all cancelled.
However, this is still a good price for 32GB if they honor it.
