For £3-7 more, I'd absolutely recommend a new one, just for peace of mind on being super clean out-the-box and no worries about screws being bent or anything(which can be difficult with these).

Great cooler shame i paid 30 a month ago :disappointed: but is excellent at keeping my 4.6 i5 2500k under 60 degrees

Please note this is huge and may not fit in some cases

Just out of curiosity, why would you take a used, or open box, one rather than new (and with different warranties) for a £1 saving?

Ive got the hyper 212 plus and it looks identical, I think the difference is very minor but I know to some the small difference could be a big thing.
At the time I paid £14 for it delivered. Still using it and running fine.

I'm actually looking at getting another cooler for my new build. Im still deciding, do I go for this or try out the noctua coolers that everyone goes on about, they are pricey though. Are noctua really that good? Or am I just better off with one of these?

I have the Noctua NH-D15, it's massive but you can't hear the thing at all and it performs on par with some liquid coolers. Well worth the money in my opinion.

Noctua fans are awesome. Their coolers are ordinary but they do have a nice fitting system

Why do you want a different cooler?

Honestly, you get serious diminishing returns going to better coolers. You *might* get a few tenths of a Ghz better on your overclock if you're pushing it hard. But the 212 is already basically silent in most cases and provides entirely respectable cooling.

I've also been running the plus version for over 5 years now. The stock fan was rubbish so I swapped it for a 140mm own noctua. Nerve heard the cooler again. Mechanical HDD is the noisiest component in my PC

I've had both. Do you need the lowest temps known to man? If you need them low, go for this. If you want overkill and willing to sacrifice money and aesthetics (imo) go for the dh14/15. I had one. They're mindblowingly good but unnecessary for most people

I'm a big fan of the ARCTIC Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2 if you dont fancy these.
I fitted quite a few on G3258's, brilliant for the money at the time through Flubit, £12'ish.

I got that exact one cooling my 6600 for a year now but it's a bit of an overkill (for what I need). It's quite bulky too but fits nicely in my node 804. The pegs that clip to the motherboard looked flimsy but so far so good.

Well silence is my ultimate goal and I want to try something new. Ive had this 212 for over 6 years and ive decided im going to keep it as it is running on the old i3 rig im using, saves me hassle of removing, cleaning etc.

I was going to order this evo but I just ended up ordering the Noctua NH-D15S now. I know its not cheap but decided to give it a go.

Silence is all for me on a browser pc. I use the ebay in-series resistor cables to low the speed even further.
Not possible on my gaming machine, but on my browser pc fine. My HTPC x3 PC's are on Intel stock coolers on the bios silent settings.

I have this and a second identical fan clipped to the other side of the heat sink to create a push/pull solution. Keeps my i7 2600k cool running at 4.4Ghz. Lots of cooling power for very little outlay.

I 've had this cooler for over 2 years and am able to OC my i7 from 4.0Ghz to 4.7Ghz no problem.

I am using Plus version as well - for 3 years. I've paid about 15, ridiculous ;-) The best thing you can do with this cooler is to change its fan - I decided for Akasa Viper FN063... its yellow colour looks really cool, and it's very silent, efficient, good stuff for "K" CPUs.

Factor in returns hassle and time waiting around, and surely and the potential saving of £1.80 for an inferior unit doesn't look nearly worth it.

Very good cooler imo
Cpu (i7 6700) idles 10 degrees above whatever my room temperature is, and never gets hotter than 60. Invest in a second pwm fan for best results

Arctic announced their AM4 compatibility for anybody with one already.
