Ok so not the greatest of tablets but at £29.95 I think for light use its a good price. Just don't be expecting for this to do amazing things, a bit of web browsing, watching videos. Things like that.

Personally I was looking to get this myself for my business as its cheap and I need two. If I decide I am happy with the size I will just use it for date planning, printing word docs and things like that.

Im not personally looking for anything to fancy. :smiley:

Just to add, this has a slightly smaller battery at 3600mah. In constant use, expect under 3 hours depending on tasks, screen brightness etc..

Hi guys, just thought I would let you all know I went ahead and bought two. I think at this price they a brilliant for what I want. I bought two Alcatel Pixi4's for my business and yes they are budget phones but I think they are great too for the price. Still have my iPhone and iPad for personal use but when your on a budget for gadgets there a definitely bargains to be had. :smiley:

Can anyone comment on the battery life? And how long it takes to fully charge up please?

The charge time will vary according to your charger (though this has a 2A charger) and the battery capacity. The similar Linx 8 has a 4000mAh battery, so if it has a similar battery it will at least 2 hours to fully charge.

I wrote something on battery life for Windows 10 in this thread: saying "I suspect that full-blown Windows 10 (designed primarily for PCs) will be worse than Android (designed primarily for phones)."

I have my Windows tablet in hybrid sleep mode, so that I start it up (taking 30-40 seconds), then I can press the power button and it sleeps (waking almost immediately), if it hasn't been used for a set period of time (I have it set to 30 mins), it then turns off, saving power until the next time I use it. I therefore don't need to plug/unplug it so often (more hassle than the delayed startup). In Windows 10, I have found that sleep uses battery pretty quickly, presumably the machine often wakes (see this comment for Linx 8 on Windows 8.1 "the standby battery life isn't that great. You'll get around 12 hours of sleep mode, which uses anything up to 20% of the battery in the downtime.").

I wrote a couple of comparison posts in this thread about the Fire 7 versus the Linx 7. In comparison to the Linx 7, the 8 inch Connect has a larger screen by about 30% (8 inch versus 7 inch screen), but has similar CPU specs, the same resolution and RAM .

I've never had it that long really and haven't used it that much. in the house I tend to keep it plugged in charging when I use it to keep the battery topped up. in the office you can do the same thing, just buy a few spare charging cables from poundland and USB power socket things and leave them around the place so wherever you use it you can plug it into a power source. with irregular use it would probably last 9-5. you can leave it charging at lunchtime or something if it wasn't lasting, or use a powerbank if it needs to be portable

1GB tablets are fine, honestly for £30-ish a full x86 tablet with Windows compatibility is a bargain, you just don't do anything that's going to overly tax it but Windows is pretty efficient. I'm genuinely surprised the 1GB whiners aren't complaining about it not being full HD; if you want 2GB RAM you can pay roughly twice the price. I use mine to provide a good offline sync of my Dropbox along with proper Office, carry a few videos and take up virtually no space in my bag for a tenth the price of an iPad (which I also have but don't necessarily want to carry all the time).

How is the Connect 9 for battery life? Not sure if you read my description but I won't be using the tablet as my main tablet as I already have an iPad. Wanted two cheap tablets for my business just for calendar bookings, printing word documents, arranging delivery appointments. Things like that. I suppose my question really is would it last the day with occasional use here and there through out the day?

Well as its on the Windows store I would imagine it would run on this, I suppose it depends on how your watching. (Through TV, headphones etc.) Not sure really though as I haven't bought one yet so lets hope someone with one of these can tell you. :smiley:

i have the connect 9 and a linx7 with similar 1gb ram and specs and kodi runs fine

as for web browsing, compared to ipads that i've had for years, i found web browsing a bit frustrating using windows on a small touch screen. add a keyboard/touchpad it's a lot better

Good for bittorrenting, and will put out a decent sound via Bluetooth, and if it's the same as mine comes with HDMI out and unusually for a tablet a full size USB 2 port. Good for browsing with one or two tabs open. Fonts are really small and tick boxes to select files will need a stylus to stop you from going insane trying to use your fingers. Other than that it will struggle to do most things. Would probably have been wiser to put windows xp on the small tablets and not cram windows 10 on them.

Sadly after owning a 1gb ram windows tablet I can tell you the experience is not great. Good enough for basic browsing with 1 tab open but once you go beyond that it's a poor experience.
