It does taper fairly thin, but there is a white stripe at the front making it look even skinnier than it is in the images with a white background.

Looks like its really that thin, you can see the brake cable and brake mounting point in blue with a thin white portion of fork on the front.

Just loctite the BB30- it stops the bearings moving around in the frame. Cannondale actually put out a technical bulletin explaining how. You use bearing fit compound not normal loctite blue.

So whats the verdict ? Should i go for this cannonade or the cube carbon attain for 999£ ? They pretty much weigh the same i think?!

I have a 900 mile 9 day race in few months. Which one do you guys think will be able to handle the uk/scotland roads and give me a more comfortable ride?

You can put the converter in but be prepared for it to produce lots of noise.

Did you use the converter and loctite together or just loctite the bb30?

Great bike, as has been mentioned, if you don't like the BB30 buy a converter and stick a ultegra bb in. If your having problems with your BB30 make sure it is really packed with grease.

A converter does not get rid of the BB30 though, it jus converts it. I have BB30A on my Cannondale after suffering creaks for a while, I got busy with loctite. Totally cured now.

you're right, and in theory i guess the BB30 is lighter/simpler, but perhaps more risk of frame damage than a screw thread.

I bought a Canondale in 1991 and I kept it for ten years upgrading it over that period. Basically the frame was so good it would have been a mistake to get rid of it!

I have this exact bike and it's a cracker! Most people get a creak out of the BB30 at some point I think due to lack of grease when being built. It's a simple fix though. It's never going to win any races, but for riding comfort it's superb! I'm 6'0" and the 58 is perfect. I paid £600 for mine second hand on eBay...it had done about 500 miles

You cannot directly fit a shimano crank to a BB30, it is nothing to do with saving on components.

My CAADX had the same brakes and it was a simple upgrade to the Spyres. I did need some spacers for the rotors to get them in the correct position though I had changed the wheelset to Aksiums at the same time.

I don't think you'd ever find a new BB30 bike with a Shimano crank fitted. I know people who buy such bikes fit an adapter so they can use Shimano cranks, but as far as I know shops never sell them that way.

Just a word of warning about the FSA BB30 bottom bracket - it'll need replacing frequently. It's absolute tosh!

My wife has this bike, she loves it but the brakes are not the best, it's not surprising they've been changed to TRP Spyres on the 2017 models.

Spyres get good reviews too. At least with it having mounting points, it's easily upgradeable.

I will never buy BB30 or PF30 again. Any bearing exposed to rain without proper sealing will die early.

Mechanics I've visited for twice-yearly bottom bracket changes for my alloy Synapse would disagree. They say everyone has trouble with them.

that is an absolute bargain. Cannondale Synapse is a great ride. Endurance Geometry so you could ride it all day long, but it's still got a "kick" to it, when you want to go faster. Downhills are also sublime handling. disc brakes mean you won't wear the wheels out. 105 is a lovely groupset. Absolute steal at that price. regarding the Bottom Bracket. most people with BB30 have no problem in alloy frames.

I got Evans to price match Hargreaves cycles who had lots of sizes. I bought this a few weeks ago with my vitality cashback. Upgraded the wheels and may look to upgrade the calipers to avid bb7.

Great bike. Heated.
Limited sizes and alloy frame. The Cube is a much better buy IMO. Costing a fair bit more though.

I got this email deal yesterday from cyclestore. My first thought was how skinny is that front fork.

Looks a great price for 11 speed 105 with a great gear range 34/50 and 11-32t should allow you to get up anything
