I've been the past 3 years but after going to a larger store last year I'm not bothering this year. Horrible people pushing and shoving and people using trolleys from a nearby store to block the aisles and throw in all the products they can grab off the shelves, no thanks.

I've stopped going, as the extra 20% you save from the complete hell that day is, is not worth it unless you are spending £100+. I've seen people bashing toddlers in pushchairs in the faces with their baskets as they grab that 'bargain', women literally sweeping every item into their trolley and then moving onto the next aisle, its just over priced smells and biscuits in pretty tins lol!

I think it starts in the early hours of the morning online so be prepared for a sleepless night :smirk: It can also be a bit stressful as you think you've ''got'' something coz it's in your basket but then when you check out it says the items are OOS plus there are a lot of OOS items to trawl through which you only find out when you try to add it to your basket and a red sign pops up

They sometimes add more items over the next few days after it goes live so it is pot luck really and I tend to just see what is left at a time which suits me hence have never got all the ''good stuff'' but it never really bothers me as I just see what is there and mainly buy the toys rather than the gift sets as most people in my family have very sensitive skin and cannot use the perfumed products anyway so I tend to get the ''best of the leftovers'' and be happy with that rather than go mad online either but have never really been a ''fighter'' when it comes to the sales to me it's just not worth the hassle and stress / lack of sleep I have experienced in the past :wink:

don't really think this should be a deal as items aren't known and there are already a few discussions on miscellaneous posts. my feeling is 11th as 3rd weds after Christmas. Maybe Mr mse is the guy to ask, rarely gets it wrong. people filling trollies with over scented over inflated prices, for items which in many cases are exclusive to boots so you can't compare prices and will go out of date in under 9 months oh and lose an eye and get crushed, no thanks.

It is as awful as people say, the same people go every year with 4 shopping trolleys and clear the shelves, they start queuing at 7am, I didn't go last year because it's like people looting, they can have them.

I don't get all of this nonsense! Boots are WAY overpriced to begin with, and you can pick up the same sets direct from manufacturers for less. I've never been in a Boots one, but did make the mistake of going to a Next sale a couple of years back - rude, aggressive people everywhere, not even looking at items they were picking up, just lobbing as much as they could in a trolley, so others couldn't look - what a lovely environment we live in! What's the point in getting all these gift sets etc? The packaging changes yearly, so if you're all planning on giving it for Xmas 2017, won't you just look like a complete tight-fisted git? :wink:

meadowhall people queue to get in then literally run to the aisles completely clearing the shelves. they take everything to a member of their family stood to one side and continue to do this until the shelves are empty then they go through everything they have in piles about 4 ft high and toss to one side what they don't want. if you've not been you need to go just to see the carnage!

Do what i do - go in the night before - 15 mins before they shut and hide the good stuff around the store.

Just stick it under shelves and stuff.

Only 3 or 4 prime bits... and voila - get there at 8:30 and things are waiting for you!

I evern put some stuff on the clearance shelf near the sandwiches... while everyone else is in a scrum just walk over and pick it up.

And go in with 2 big ikea bags... those boots baskets are rubbish for bulk!

Boots should allow everyone one basket to make it fair and stop people being greedy.

It changes each year. I've sat up for hours before now to find it gone online about 5am. Usually the website goes down and they put a lovely photo on the page. They then open it up again a few hours later. With how poor the website is I wouldn't wait up again. I had a scan what was online last night and only put about 3 items in my basket as most is out of stock. I shall set my alarm about 5am and see what's on there but not hopeful.
Personally I think it will be next week. Op initially thought it was 75% so not convinced this will happen tomorrow. This will be the earliest it has ever been if it is tomorrow.

From reading several old MSE threads going back a few years there seems to be a pattern where staff are told it's on one week and then they change it at the last minute until the next week,it's almost like Boots do it on purpose to get customers in a frenzy :laughing:

Heads up, for anyone in East Kilbride, there is literally hundreds of stock in the Kingsgate branch. I'd estimate about 40 of the big No7 box and about 50 of the s&g case. No idea if it's tomorrow but at about 6pm last night they were rearranging all the sale stock. I reckon Boots have had a poor Christmas because I've never seen so much leftover stock in that branch.

Seems to be working normally again now. They show at full price in basket but then a saving comes off before it is totalled up.

Hmm, that's not quite true.Save for later has worked for me quite a few times,the trick is to be online as soon as sale starts.Dont think it'll be this week as for last 5 years sites went down for at least 2 hours before sale starts.Did wonder how so much heat could be given for something that hasn't happened,people have been slated on here for the lesser post of not being store specific for 10% of items:|

Glad you've had success in the past, it's never worked for me when it's been for this event but Has any other time. I agree the site is usually offline by now. I've stayed up all night in the past then been unable to use the site as soon as it goes live again for several hours by which time there's nothing left in my basket.

Tube station Boots stores open at 6:30 e.g. LIVERPOOL STREET STATION, if someone is passing by they can check and post back on here, save everyone else waiting till 8-9am.

So thanks to you lot Boots got great free publicly. Loads of people going in store today to have a sniff around and a lot bought something anyway even if it was just a sandwich or something. I'd say Boots is the winner in all this.

For those that were trying to work the date on this I have just overheard a Boots staff member say that it's not today the 11th it's next week or the week after, the date is with the manager but all they get told is it's next week or week after they won't advertise till the day of it

Boots are the winners here with all the advertising they're getting and of course hukd will of made a lot of money through affiliate links and sheer amount of activity on this thread- which is probably why this post hasn't been deleted yet!! The Boots' 70% off sale is definitley NOT ON in Brighton (North Street) today. I waited for the store to open "just in case" - as did about 25 or so other people - and all staff and management confirmed it IS NOT today but they don't know when it will be.

considering the amount of people who had staff say to them it would be today maybe Boots postponed it due to the bad weather forecast in parts of the country

I was in a Norwich branch and two ladies were asking a member of staff about the 70% off, she told them they expected the sale to last several more weeks and it could be next Wednesday but the staff haven't been told any dates yet. They had loads of stock left, especially Soap and Glory.

The date wasn't changed. The board have their meeting first thing Monday. In that meeting a discussion was had regarding the date to have it. It was decided not to do it this week. The next discussion will be next Monday. No date has been set yet and no date has been sent to stores. Stores may have guessed it was going to be this week but it was never told to them officially.

This is the same process as last year and previous years. Stores found out on the Monday that the sale was happening on the Wednesday, thus last minute changes to rotas etc.

Dont know about everyone else, but Boots new gifting centre they introduced Christmas time at the cost of reducing their xmas range really put me off. The xmas range was not as good as previous years and as a result i did not buy as much as i normally do. Even some of staff i spoke to thought it was a mistake!
Probably the new American owners of Boots thought it was a good idea!

Any boots stores locally to me have lots of stock left over...and customers... (myself included) .... are happy to browse/buy at 50%
So why sell it at 30%...... When people are still buying at half price.....

Not entirely 100% sure but because it's the only one of the big gifts left online whereas the others have been distributed to stores it looks like that's the case.

70% Sale is definitely on today. Been to 3 stores this morning (1 large and 2 smaller) and it was terrible in all of them. Lots of French Connection, Jack Wills and Zoella in the larger store and not much of anything else there or in the others. It's the first year it's been this bad but I saved lots of money by not buying anything. :stuck_out_tongue:

I browsed on Wednesday and thought it didn't look worth the effort, so didn't bother going.

I was there mid morning dropping off a prescription and there was loads of men's stuff and those ladies beauty box sets (the pink and red coloured ones) and a few odds and ends.
