There are 3 models (not including differing RAM sizes, storage sizes, or dual-SIM versions) in this range.
This deal is the 5" Moto G4 Play, only available in 1GB RAM/16GB Storage (in the UK at least), 8MP Camera, and includes NFC (which is missing from the other G4 models). The SOC is a snapdragon 410 @ 1.2Ghz, which is the same as a 2nd Gen Moto E and Moto G 3rd (although the Moto G 3rd is clocked higher, at 1.4Ghz).
The next one up is the standard 'Moto G4', which is 5.5", starts at 2GB RAM/16GB Storage, Snapdragon 617 SOC, and 13MP camera.
Then the top of the range model is the 'Moto G4 Plus', which is the same as the standard Moto G4, apart from it includes a fingerprint reader, and upgrades the camera to 16MP.

Mine arrived a few days ago and its a great phone. No way overpriced at £79 in my mind.Very easy to use and is very nippy even if it only has 1GB of ram (you dont need 2 as suggested). It has NFC. I much prefer this to the Moto G4 plus I bought for the Missus.
Its unlocked and there was no additional import duty. It did take about 8 days to arrive.

My 1GB Moto G2 lasted me two years before it finally became too slow to use and I risked bashing it to pieces with my inpatient brute-force tapping.
When you can't answer calls because it constantly freezes on the answer screen - then it becomes a problem.
The 1GB itself isn't the issue so much, it's the increasingly poorly optimised and bloated apps that are designed without the consideration that users may not all have flashy 3GB+ phones...
Hence why Facebook have released a 'Lite' version of Messenger - which includes all the functionality you'd need without hogging all of your phone's resources.

It's tempting, but if you're using a smartphone for a bunch of apps then it really needs more RAM.
1GB is fine if you just use the phone, texts, take a few pics etc, but in my own experience with Android phones you need more RAM otherwise it just slows to a crawl with games, social media, photo apps etc.

I got this phone recently, and it can stream music from Deezer, to the car Bluetooth, while I'm browsing and checking social media, with no slow down. I've even had a check of the sat nav at the same time with no noticeable drop in performance.
Recent phones I've had with 2gb couldn't do this.

It's a long story but my phone was faulty. They attempted to repair it twice. Both repairs failed. Motorola are refusing to give me a refund. The Consumer Rights' Act clearly states that once the first repair failed I was entitled to a refund.
I have bought another phone - not Motorola - and have made a Section 75 refund request to Barclaycard.
I don't need any help to decide if Motorola are in the wrong - they are!

1gb is enough if you're running a pure version of android. When people start experiencing lag it's usually down to a misbehaving or unoptimised app. Even if you have 2 or 3gb of ram a poorly optimised app can slow down your phone.

Just cant understand how this goes out of stock. Very poor sales practice on Motorola's behalf. These phones are mass produced in China in the tens of thousands so how on earth can they go out of stock. They are dispatched from China so no excuse. There is usually a gap of a week or so between stock coming back online. Motorola UK need a new Sales Director I think.
Excellent phone though. Have posted it myself some weeks ago.
Bought 2. First took 10 days second about a week. Wife has white G plus version. I think it looks awful. Black is nice.
qwerta369
24 Feb 17#97
Yes, especially seeing as the tracking seems to stay at "being built" for a few days before being dispatched.
So on one hand they're saying they have erratically fluctuating stock levels, then on another they're making out they're building devices to order. Both can't be true and, either way, it's really bad.
