Spotted these whilst browsing Schuh's website - the velcro fastening might not be to everyone's taste (!) but a decent price for a pair of branded casual trainers. Picked up a pair for myself for Spring/Summer.

White and Black colourways available @ £26.99 (£21.59 with student discount) - deal link goes to the White version.
There is also the classic White & Green version available, but this is only reduced to £34.99 (£27.99 with student discount)

I bought a black pair of these for work a few weeks back and not sure if it's because of the velcro but they dig in across where my big toe is. Still in 2 minds whether to take them back.

Can't see what difference it makes, other than potentially highlight social inequality if some kids start turning up in Nike Jordans or similar.
My secondary school was in a fairly poor area, we had a dress code at the time (white top, black trousers) but no blazers or anything similar. Didn't have any effect on anyone's ability to learn and meant it was far easier to play footie or tennis at breaktime.
I note in the last few years they've since brought in a full uniform (including blazer) and renamed the school as the exam results still weren't amazing, but it's not exactly led to an upturn in GCSE results.
I see the same argument banded around about controversial hairstyles, and I can't say I agree with that either.
As an economy that's increasingly service-based, the odds are that many people leaving school won't have to wear ties/blazers etc on a regular basis once they leave anyway.

Sign of the times. If you'd have gone to school in trainers in my day you'd have been sent home.
Sign of the times that kids are allowed to do what they want and nobody can instoll any sort of discipline for fear of upsetting the kids as they are used to never being challenged.

They all fall under men category, sizing should be true fit, strange that delivery cost you because it should be free.

Funny as I've spent ages trying to find the Velcro version and paid a fair bit more for them! Loved them years back along with my many shelltoes I own!
Why not ? in black is fine or even white for sports this all depends on the child's age btw.

Tried a pair on yesterday instore
Have a weird crease on the instep, probably caused by the Velcro straps.
Larger sizes were £31.99 instore.
Still a nice and cheap price for a pair of fresh creps
Got em for £21.99 after code

I assume the black version. I don't agree, but loads now wear these or black all-leather Vans and Converse.

they remind me of when they were in fashion in the early 00's, I even used to have a pair but looking at them now......they are disgusting with the velcro and look much better with the laces. However, that doesn't take away from the fact that they are a great price for those who prefer to wear trainers with velcro fasteners

Actually bought the white & the green and white ones earlier this evening. Didn't occur to me to put it on here
Don't care if they're velcro, £48 for two pairs of stan smiths is brilliant! well done OP for bringing it to the attention of others
