Because they have a habit of getting lost, and there's a better chance of finding one if you've got a spare or two.
And also because it's as cheap to buy 4 as it is 1.

Really? I had no problems with a slotted screwdriver on all of mine. Was I doing something wrong?

There are different types of bleed valves, B&Q used to sell individual one's for £1.99 which were the standard square or these rounded type 5 for £2.99, they slip and round the square edges if you try to use then on standard bleed valves. Beware.

They probably have the ones you can do with a flathead screwdriver. Our towel rail ones are like this.

Not just bad, my turning handle snapped off when trying to bleed the radiator! Fortunately it hadn't started bleeding as I didn't have another near-by.

These look, from the photo, like the head is shaped as a circle with a square inset in them. Does anybody know the point of that? Any radiator bleed valve I've ever seen is square headed.
Reason I mention it is I bought a couple of bleed keys from B&Q a few weeks ago having lost my old trusty one, and they were both of this design. As a result, they won't properly engage with the bleed valve and I only managed to loosen one of my radiators, the rest just slipped on the head. Didn't risk any more messing as they obviously weren't up to the job.
I was going to mention the ones shinds found as a good alternative as they appear to be the correct square head - what's wrong with those ones shinds?

Strange, daughter just asked me to go and bleed her radiators, think she needs some of these. Ordered and voted hot.
