An offer on my Nectar offers today. Book any Virgin Trains journey, East or West Coast by 25/1 for travel between 20/1 - 31/3 and receive 1000 bonus Nectar points. I know offers are account specific but worth a check.

This won't work as it's not on Virgins routes.
It clearly says services...
3 Make any booking on either West Coast services or East Coast services.
best option is the 0748 haymarket to edinburgh child ticket for £1.15

Offer is on mine. What's the cheapest ticket to buy to get the points (won't be travelling)

Edinburgh to Haymarket is £2.30. Anyone got anything cheaper?

I checked that route and it comes up with any train but not sure if you have to travel on a Virgin Train rather than Cross Country or Scotrail.
There are a couple of times between 6:30am and 8:00am that are £1.40.

Imagine you could likely use a railcard?
I also note it says in the terms - 'Virgin Trains East Coast tickets must be booked at virigintrainseastcoast.com therefore, please accept the redirect from virgintrains.com or, book direct at virgintrainseastcoast.com' - but it doesn't seem to take me there?

Thanks. Gone for the £1 option as you might need to spend at least £1 in order for it to register with Nectar

I doubt you'll get points if you don't pick it up, especially as others are saying they had problems with these promos before. I'd recommend picking the ticket up.

The offer is for purchasing a ticket, no mention of picking it up. The issues people have are common with all nectar promotions and nothing to do with whether they pick up the ticket. I've received points when I haven't picked up the tickets...

I've just received 3000points for 3 previous East Coast 1000 points deals and I haven't picked up any of the tickets
