There used to be a small app for Windows called the 'Follinator', basically a player program for all the amazing Tim Follin derived compositions from the Spectrum, C64 and Amiga Days. Can't seem to find it on the net - anyone have a copy?

I may be 15, but God I love the old stuff when you had to spend a few to get decent audio out of the system...

Ahh the loading noise of Spectrum. It was like it got angrier and angrier. The loading and changing of tapes was near on a game itself. Then youd often get hit with a load error and have to do it all over, like some kinda boss fight.
I can still remember the picture loading noises for Jet Pac 35-odd years later. youtube.com/wat…vG0

Also I can remember when Ceefax used to broadcast in the middle of the night in the early 1980s - and they'd have Spectrum "downloads" broadcast as well - not sure how you'd get a clear enough recording of the audio, or even what the programs were - but pretty novel for its time.

The Java online emulator I used to use was called something like zxspectrum.net and seemed to be Spanish (though in English), even had a live chatroom on the side of the page - that seems to have disappeared.
Shame as I used to spend hours playing Chris Sievey's The Biz on it (even though it was written in BASIC it was quite amusing to play!).

Here's another online Speccy emulator (Czech site though) that has tons of games on it
Thank you for giving me nightmares tonight. Oh my god that sound is horrifying. And people who grew up in the 90s like myself complained about dial-up sounds. Those loading sounds on the spectrum sound considerably worse, and appear to have been composed by Satan himself.

I grew up with it, so I find that "noise" quite heavenly

I loved the 48k speccy and the noises that Tim Follin managed to squeeze from the beeper were amazing in the end. Multi channel sound m.youtube.com/wat…uHE

Technically, it's still the right computer - the ZX Spectrum 128K, which came along a few years after the 16K/48K/+ versions, DID have an AY Chip

I love the Master System. I didn't know of it's existence as a kid, because they never sold them in my local area, but I finally got one in 2015, and I love it. I own 22 games for it, and a couple of months ago, I purchased a pair of Competition Pro pads for it, which are much better than the stock SMS pads. I never bothered to go for the 3D glasses, because I'm legally blind in one eye, and can't see 3D.

A lad in work played his playlist of 8 bit music on Spotify, I said I will be forced to kill you if you play that ever again. Christ! it made me angry. He listens to it in his house, how on Earth could you do that? Donald Trump can have the CIA use it for torture purposes, I'd confess to anything, just make it stop!
