Xbox One game. Moderate to good reviews, perhaps not much depth. But since no many options for skiing or snowboarding games on current gen consoles. At 24.99 from game is worth a punt, but not at normal full price of 44.99.

Really? Wow, either you really love snow games or you haven't played a lot of games this year...
freeman76
16 Dec 164#5
Nope, I played most of the top games, this just feels better for me than most of the stuff I played. I havent finished DH2 or WD2 yet but this game has taken me away from playing others at the moment. It took me about 10 hours or so to really nail the systems but once I did its just so much fun. I just dont see it as being clunky at all, it's really smooth, the tricks work well (once you get them down) and the sense of speed on some of the later mountains is amazing.
Obviously though you just want to put me down and claim I must be crazy because I dont share your view on the game, so I dont really know why I am dignifying you with a response, but maybe you need to understand that one mans trash is another mans treasure.

It does affect everyone when people buy shovelware like this it encourages devs to make more of it and people wonder why games aren't as good as they used to be.

I suggest you try reading up some background info on the title
Oh and I can assure you that my logic is not that it's "AAA" just because it's made by freaking Ubisoft, lol

This was Ubisofts main 'final surprise' at this years E3. They did a huge scale open beta for the public on all 3 platforms. After the onslaught of marketing spent of the farce that was Watchdogs 2, I'm not surprised they didn't have much left for this in terms of adverts on tele, but this was one of their bigger releases this year.

I played the beta on pc. I was surprised. I loved the "mountain gliding" and the "snowboard" ... "Ski" and "parachute" are very boring.

Have you heard yourself? £24 is alot of money to some people. Job or not. Even so people make money how they choose. It's no harm to anybody.

I guess his logic is its made by Ubisoft so it must be AAA. I guess all of those indie games Ubisoft make are also AAA as well then lol.

Is this a 'AAA' game? Was it heavily advertised, what was the game budget? I for one never heard of this title until about a month ago.

Second only to people completely clearing out a clearance deal in a store (like, seven copies of a game that's inexplicably gone down to £5) that less well-off people could cut plenty of corners with. I just think that kind of greed's f***ing disgusting - especially bragging about it afterwards.

What a terrible analogy. Tell you what, head off to a planet where a new 'big release' game is regularly churned out at under £25 a pop and don't let the door hit you on the way out.

I know but any price for crap is bad otherwise I could take a dump and put it in a bag and sell you it for £25. Great value!

It's a great price for a 'AAA game' that's just come out to be honest, regardless of quality. Just giving my opinion, man.

Was really looking forward to this game when I saw it revealed at e3. Played the beta and was really disappointed, even though it was a beta I can't see how it would have drastically changed since release. Found it glitchy... obviously due to it being a beta, but was dull and boring. Not very fun and not really living up to the graphics shown at e3... they p*** me off when they show games that look stunning, then come release they look like a ps2 game.

I think it's a really good game but the fact it's bombed in price really makes my day (not) as I paid full price with trade ins the day after it came out, I really like the look of Battlefield 1 but now after this I think I'll wait til after Christmas :disappointed:

I can understand your passion, as I skateboard myself (15years). I wanted to like this game, but the realism put me off a bit.
It's like the Skate series, there's a tiny bit of arcade freedom which makes it enjoyable then the realistic gameplay over other skateboarding games make it have a decent feel.
Where steep from what I experience was more about the speed, and the "extreme" side of the mountain. When in reality, all I want to do is huge airs and rail tricks.
It might have that further into the game, but unfortunately, my interest in the title is pretty low.

I havent seen either of those things happen personally, so maybe they fixed that from the Beta? I have hit a LOT of trees though, there is a challenge on one of the later mountains that has you steaming through a black black country forest in the fog.
I'm not saying those issues are gone, I just havent seen them. The main gripe I have is with the map, and seeing which events you have completed etc. I think they have another patch coming before Xmas, and then we get Alaska DLC for free after that as well. The future looks good for the game, I just hope poor sales dont mean they leave it to die.
I see why the game is a bit polarising though, I mean there are 4/10 reviews as well as there are 8/10 reviews. I relate more to the Eurogamer review, they posted theirs like a week after release and it shows they put plenty of time into it. Some of the others seemed to give up before it clicked. Maybe I'm biased because I love snowboarding in real life though.

I would aim for a small bump to get some air to suddenly stop before the hill due to it reading the terrain wrong.
Clip a tree and you just stop, instead of bailing.
I doubt I'd buy the game the beta was lack lusting. From my short experience, I didn't see the game selling well (not to hate on it or anything, was just easily seen that this won't be everyone's cup of tea).

It's only because you called it GOTY, which is totally different to saying "I liked it". Most posts like that are usually hyperbole, when the opinion varies so wildly from the consensus.
Thanks for actually providing me with an answer, it obviously clicked for you!
Personally, I missed the beta and got burned on the crew so am going to wait to see if I can try it for free before I buy it.

I didnt play the BETA so I cant say whether they improved it or not. To say it's clunky though suggests to me they did because it's the smoothest snowboarding game I've played. and as a Snowboard enthusiast I have played most of them.
