£34, on this very site a years gold could be had for as little as £25 to £28 in the last few month's, are people still paying over £30 for Live these days. ha
But yeah, considering i have had gold from a time when all you got from said gold account was online play and that was it, these free games have added some cracking value to a gold sub now, and i like the fact that you get to keep all the xbox 360 games for good, so for £2 a month you are buying two xbox 360 games and renting 2 xbox one games, i mean what other service offers you that.

Crap apart from Rayman. But I don't know how anyone finds the time to play them all...I usually download try for half hour never to use again. But it's free with gold and from time to time you get a game I do play through...I.e. walking dead season 1, MGS GZ.

Maybe this isn't new to most here but I watched the GWG video recently and the wording that was used seemed off. Previously GWG were games that were yours to keep whatever. The video wording could be interpreted that you need XBL Gold to use the games in the future?

You shouldn't need to use your 360 to play the 360 GWG without a sub, if they are BC then I am pretty sure you can still play them on XB1 without a sub as you own them.
Meathotukdeals
21 Dec 16#93
Ha! I do indeed still have my old 360. So its just the XB1 that needs a Live account? Looks like I may need to DL my stuff to the 360 rather than saying, 'meh may as well put it on the XB1'

As someone who owns both, I find some of your points highly questionable, mostly to do with the OS seeing as Sony has notoriously had the least user friendly interfaces of all modern consoles. M$ are constantly evolving their front end to be intuitive and easy to use, and that's apparent through the preview program.
M$ hasn't really struggled out of the gate with anything, in fact out of the two they have made the most profit this generation thanks to refining their form factor and pushing production to lower costs (hence why we had a period of ridiculously low cost XB1s). And the controller has been widely cited and voted as the best designed and most ergonomic controller.
I actually find that month on month due to the platform for their 'premium' service, Sony's offerings are of higher value, or more relevant in certain circumstances and I find M$ misses a trick with certain releases. However, the indie scene on Xbox really makes this much better - there are some amazing indie games I'd have never played if it wasn't for GWG!
Can I ask, what are you referring to when you mention the 'extra part' for the controller? It doesn't need motion support and all gen 2 controllers are of the new 3.5mm/XBA port hybrid design so I don't know what could be 'missing'
But other than that out of the two, I agree that the Xbox comes out on top overall. Shame that some games don't make it to the Xbox but that's pretty much why I still get a PlayStation...
Houstieboy to thisismyalias
21 Dec 161#90

Just because you don't like the games doesn't mean they're garbage. KI Season 2 is a great addition for those who either got Ultra free back when or haven't purchased either of the DLC bundles. The Cave isn't a bad wee game and is one of double fine's best works. Rayman is Rayman, hit the nostalgia bong and enjoy. As for Deathtrap, never played it but god damn me I will because it's free.
GWG is a free offering as a bonus for something we've always paid for anyway. Microsoft has no reason other than good will to run this promo so take that entitled, privileged stick out your butt and enjoy the fact you're getting something for nothing.

I own both and to be fair both have massive advantages and massive disadvantages...
Xbox and M/Soft have made decisions in an attempt to claw back some sales and some market % from sony... who had in all honest stuffed M/soft for sales out of the gate and rightly so after what can only be described as a marketing disaster leading up to launch.
In recent times (last year or so) - owners of Xbox have benefitted greatly from this. Whereas Sony have been in the lucky situation that with such dominance can afford to not have to giveaway/do much to continue on - any business with this market share would get slightly arrogant.
I bought an xbox to cash in from the unique situation that xbox owners find themselves in.
I can 100% say though that as a games console - neither is much better than the other... the Xbox OS is horrendous, as is the shop...
exclusives I would say are fairly even.
Gold is better than plus for games.
EA vault is better than PS now.
controller... PS win hands down.
again most of these are my opinion but not one console is miles better than the other - and anyone that has used both properly would feel the same.
Xbox edges it for me for the following - USB hard disk expansion. (massive)
- EA Vault
- Backward capability.
PS deserves a mention for being a better machine to use and the fact the controller does what it should without an extra part!
Id recommend both but if I only had to keep one it would be Xbox for hard disk expansion alone.

This is such an idiotic comment. Given that Xbox Live costs £34 for 12 months, that works out at about £2.85 a month. That's for a months worth of live and 4 games. Or you could not bother and buy a pint of lager. A rental movie costs more.

Because the actual game is free-to-play and will be included. But, you won't have access to the original season 1 characters, unless you already have them.
Of course, all KI characters are available to use on a rota basis, so even without having S1, you'll still get to try them over time.
