Xbox Fitness has been free for ages but you wont be able to download after the 15th December.
If you download it before then you can use it all the way till July 1st or in my case for the 1st week after the new year.
Although you cant get all the workouts like Insanity there is still a good choice to choose from
You will need Xbox gold and Kinect.

MS are sweeping it under the rug which is a shame as I like it, there is a petition here and lots of comments here
However once downloaded you can use as much as you like till July

You need an adapter I believe and it's not in the box.

Actually, pretty much all the workouts will stop working after December 15th, unless you've paid for content before now. I certainly wouldn't bother downloading it now.

That's not right..
Q. Can I still use Xbox Fitness to watch free workout videos or content I paid for?
A. Yes, Xbox Fitness content will remain available until June 30, 2017.
Ricardo you should be able to click on the Get deal and sign in with your Microsoft account

Not much point downloading something that you know is going to be taken away in the near future.

Last chance to get it - Forza Horizon 1 was recently de-listed along with all of the DLC - last chance to get something. Once you have it on your account you can download it again later.
This fitness game might have associated content that will also stop, but still from the OP it looks like it will work for another ~7 months or so, so if interested in it, download it now before it gets pulled. If you don't like it, delete it and nothing lost. Don't download it now, then think in a couple of weeks time you would like to try it - too late.

Have bought Xbox for kids Xmas - have already logged on and begun setting up (e.g installed Minecraft) but now boxed and put away. Can I add it to my account via a browser or similar?

Yes I think so, log in to your Xbox account via website or the "smartglass" Xbox app and buy it.

You can play without a Kinect - but it will not monitor your movements abviously, so the points you get for each session are limited.

Not sure this is a deal?? Something that is free, has been free for a long time, that is now not going to be free and in fact is going to be unavailable.
It does show insanity in the picture along with p90x

Similar to Ricardo above.
Do you just have to " purchase " before the 15th or actually download it ?

Not too sure, I think by "purchasing" you own it, so you can download anytime, but don't quote me on that.
insanity and p90x used to be paid content and isn't available anymore

Really unfortunate they are removing it. Wish we could keep the workouts, don't even mind paying.

My point is if you start using it now and you enjoy it then you are going to be disappointed when in 6 months it is taken away from you. So you may as well look for something else now.

Yeah, free workout videos or paid content. All the 'free with Gold' workouts are being removed. I would fetch the link but I'm on my phone and can't be bothered.

Or, here are 2 thoughts - 1. Use it for 7 months and get a lot out of a free product. And 2. Get hold of a capture card (some don't require a computer) and record all the relevant exercises you want.
Tge latter is my plan, so I'll always have it available to me.
