Normal price, bought this a a cheapo for apre MTB and its really good. Its not waterproof and the down isn't hydrodown but its a steal at this price. To qualify I own lots of top branded equipment as I ski and mtb in Scotland ( this is not a boast, just to show I am not a brand snob, there are a few on HUKD)

Does something need to be reduced to be a good deal? Most shops pretend that something is reduced to make their normal price seem like a good deal. This is an example of a shop being sensible - they could have put 'was £150, now £27.99' like most places do so then you would call it a deal? I think this is a good deal because it's a product available to buy at a great price

I've had one of these for about 12 months and, the quality and performance are excellent. Compared to all the other overpriced, got too have labels, these are a steal. Slightly water resistant as well, the rain does bead up and run off.

Agree with other comments here. I bought one of these just before Xmas after looking for weeks at all kinds of down jackets. Very good price for a great jacket. Quechua is Decathlon's own brand, but does the job. Warm, slightly waterproof and looks the part too. I got the black/orange. Sizing is a bit misleading as I'm usually a small/medium but had to go for large in this, which is 38 to 40" chest.

this is my go to daily wear down jacket. At £28 it is such a bargain. sizing is very small. I am normally a XL but had to go up to XXXL in this jacket.
Compared to branded stuff (I have Berghaus, North Face and Patagonia) the material quality is noticeably lower grade but it hasn't detracted from the warmth or comfort. maybe longevity will be shorter but for 1/4 of the price of the branded stuff, it's to be expected.
highly recommend value for money.

Its not the same as the rab which as someonelse has explained will be full down and treated for water (hydradown). The rab is a quality premium product. This is budget and good. It is Not waterproof as some claim but will resist light showers.

It's cheap because it only has down in the front and back and not the sides and sleeves. And even that is only 75/25 (down/feather) and just 540 fill power. (a 90/10 and 600 upwards fill power is pretty standard).

trying to resist buying this! there's a full down for £39.99. can anyone in the know advice on this jacket or the full?
Either are OK for the price. Just be aware of what they are and what you really want of them.
As warmish winter fashion jackets they will be ok, and just pick which one you like. As more serious hiking gear, they may be ok but then the limitations come into play. The fabric is not rip-stop or water resistant for instance.
One comment I have is that the hoods are a bit crap and don't cover your face. So if a hood is important then think on that. If a hood is not important, then choose one with just a collar which is less bulky around the neck.
There are similar types and quality available from the usual outlets, so I don't think these are particularly cheaper than other budget jackets.
There is a big difference in quality, warmth and weight from the well known brands and the cheap ones though. You really don't know you are wearing a jacket with some of the better brands, and you stay at an even temperature. So comfort can be much much better.

For this down jacket with its 85/15 filling, the inflating power is guaranteed to be 660 CUIN or above. The fill power is a measure of the down's thermal insulation capacity and its potential to "trap" air. Down with higher fill power takes up more space, trapping more air and providing greater thermal insulation.
IN CASE OF RAIN
The material of the quilted jacket is water repellent. It allows drops of water to slide off the fabric which delays penetration of water into the jacket while you get out of the rain. But the down jacket is not waterproof. We therefore recommend wearing a waterproof jacket over the down jacket in the event of prolonged exposure to rain.
Feathers used are from Chinese ducks reared for their meat, feathers are removed after slaughter.
Prefer the look of this one compared to the OP, black with blue interior.

This ain't the best looking jacket and the material is a bit shiny , pay an extra £12 and get the £40 one, really nice jacket, the missus has had one all last year still going strong , we originally went to look at the £28 one listed.
I just listed the £40 full down Quechua jacket on decathlon, all sizes in green only £22
it's a good quality jacket, my missus has one I have the rab one, for the money it's very good
They have one showroom in Derbyshire. Other than that you need to use mail order. They don't restock very often, so you might find they are out of stock of the size or colour that you want. However, their customer service is excellent, as is the quality. You can get a Filo jacket in red for £99 at the moment. The 2017 models with the full range of sizes and colours are £160. Not cheap, but less than a Rab.

I collected mine today and its an excellent jacket. I got the black version and it isn't shiny as it appears on the photo. Not really sure how warm will or keep me on -5 or -10 but I'll report when it comes to it. Thank you for posting.

My jacket arrived today which is surprising as they estimated the 9th of January :smiley:
Anyway I'm a 6.1 85kg with a Dad bod :man: and usually take a medium but due to the comment by latics33 I ordered a large (good call :smirk:)) I expected it to be a bit 'Albanian Carwasher' but its actually looks and fits as nice as my North face and Rab jackets. I really only wanted a lighter jacket for mild Winter walking (6 - 8d) and as most of my jackets are green I wanted something that was blue. I was afraid that the two tones of blue would look garish but It's not, and the orange piping/inner lining looks as good as my North Face Nuptse 2. For £27.99 this is a steal!

Im a medium in most jackets and bought a medium in this, fits nice with t shirt / thin fleece bit snug with thick hoodie. Bought for walking dog on a cold night.
Went for black, personally think bit shiny but seems well made and blocks out cold wind
