I have the 3TB version and it bricked itself after about a month. Not an uncommon problem for them apparently.

Had problems with WD too. Despite setting up auto Backup option mine bricked and no recovery of anything. Very unhappy.

It'll likely be green. Not a chance in hell that it'll be red.

I bought 2 a while back. I opened one to fit in to my PC and it was a red, so I assume they all must be red.

Got a 4Tb one a while back. Lay it down on it's side and blu-tacked it to the desk so it didn't move or drop off. Read somewhere that even the slightest movement could brick them whilst they were being written to. Not had a problem with it at all. Can access it from abroad etc.

Now down to £109.99, so £99.99 with the code. Great price.
I've had the 2 x 3TB mirror version (also recertified) for a few months now and no problems at all, excellent value for money.
Just be sure to google "optimise WD my cloud" to find instructions on how to disable a couple of unnecessary services which really kill performance and thrash the hard drive.

Does the code work on all products?

Once it goes down there is no way of getting them working again.. would not recommend... WD advised me to break it open and use a Linux system to retrieve my information,... great customer service after 13 months... do not buy as only links with its own streaming service twonky

I think some people on HUKD shouldn't own computers as there are some right rubbish comments eh?!
Had mine for 3-4 years, no bother at all.

Anyone know how secure these are?

the only secure system is the one that is offline (not connected to the internet) or any network.
From the reviews, it seems to be almost impossible to back things up, within a reasonable time, to the WD cloud and it hogs the connection. The advice seems to be to back up up locally via its USB port, which seems to defeat the object!
these cloud drives use red drives. I have a lot of them.

The prices you are quoting are probably full price, mine is a 4tb seagate hard drive which is unfortunately mains powered but otherwise working fine and very happy

Have 2 x 4TB models and can confirm a few hiccups with firmware over the years but never ever lost data.
they run smooth, can vibrate heavy sometimes but all in all great devices.
