I bought one of these a while back just to get the 2 4tb reds. Used them in my HP Microserver. Be aware if you want to reuse the enclosure it will only accept WD drives and only specific (greens and reds I think).

But the red drives inside only have a warranty length the same as the unit, not the 3 years if bought separate!
I got a £20 pound voucher the other day from WD as I am on their mailing list, so I bought a 4 TB Red drive for £111 with shipping there is a slight pricing error on the web site. Just a heads up:-)
But this is a great deal if you take the drives out. But Out of Stock:-()

Just a quick heads up for people deciding this, I believe the hidden encryption issue (to consumers) still has not been addressed:
In short, of the unit (enclosure) fails at all for whatever reason, your data is lost as well. When data is transferred onto the device, regardless if a password is set to protect it or not, the enclosure encrypts the data while it's on its way in. Therefore, if the enclosure fails, it's not as simple as popping the hard drive out and sticking it elsewhere, that will not work.
Failure rate is unlikely (of enclosure), but you'll never know.
But, for purchasing this to get me 2x4TB (I believe RED) drives to use elsewhere, it's not a bad idea...

What's the configuration on the Duo range, e.g. would an 8tb include 2x4tb Reds?
Opening post
They also have a 6TB and 4TB models for sale.
