EDIT: after reading a few more reviews, it doesn't seem so bad after all. If only I didn't have a bloody geforce and needed gsync :'(

Heat, as this is a cheap monitor for gamers, but yes, from the review it doesnt sound so good for normal use. I would try and find other reviews though, the guy might have received a defective model.
EDIT
Other reviews dont agree though, with one saying this is caused by an AMD driver bug, and that there are work-arounds.

Tomshardware seemed to think it was a pretty good monitor.
Agreed there, it'd be a tiny change for nvidia to support freesync but they won't do it so long as their add-in card to support g-sync (which iirc costs like £200 per monitor) still makes them money.
If you play CS:GO stop reading this comment and buy a 144Hz monitor already!

was holding out for a 144hz. is this worth it? running a r9 390 and apparently no point going 4k just go 144hz

They are completely different thing. 4k is about image quality, 144hz is about smoothness. Freesync goes a long way towards making lower FPS rates look smooth, so I'd say 2560x1440p is probably where your 390 + freesync will give you the best compromise in resolution/framerate. However if you play a lot of competitive games for instance no adaptive sync technology will create frames if they are not there, or display more than the monitor can handle, so people swear by 144hz screens for CSGo and the likes.

I doesn't cost £200 per monitor, you can get gaming monitors with G-Sync for £300.

Yea i wanted to go 4k but people were saying based on my system theres no point and i should just gt a 144hz monitor. Thanks ill look into what you are mentioning, sounds like thats the best method to benefit most out of my system.
