If you’ve never used your Three bill to pay for content on Google Play before, and you’re a Pay Monthly customer, you can:
•go to the Play Store
•register for Three mobile billing if you haven’t already
•get up to £5 refunded of the price of a single purchase.
You can take part if you:
•Have an Android™ phone.
•Pay your bill monthly.
•Haven’t used Three Mobile billing in the last 12 months, even if you’ve signed up.

How do you register for three mobile billing?
andyg88 to superfreddy
8 Dec 16#3
First make sure you access the Google Play app using mobile data rather than wifi. Then just go into My Account -> Payment Methods -> Add, and the option should be there to select.

Does the credit get added to your balance?

It will get added to your three monthly bill once you make the purchase.

So I could buy a 79p app using my 3 mobile billing, and then they'll credit by mobile bill by £5?
andyg88
8 Dec 16#7
Afraid not - it's "Up to £5". So if you buy a 79p app you will only be credited the 79p back. So best to get something for around £5 to make the most of it.

It tells me that I have insufficient credit available and that I have to top up my three account first. I pay by direct debit. I have upgraded my contract last month, I don't know if that's the reason...

I wonder if it's anything to do with this...? "If you’ve got a spending limit on your account, you’ll need to remove it before you try and buy something on the Play Store and get a refund. You can do this in My3. "

I might be dumb but I don't fully understand how to get this deal, I have Three app logged in, I set my Google payment method to Three Billing (BTW that means what ever apps I buy will come out of my Three bill each month right?), but after that I can't seem to see where my £5 sits, I even tried buying an app (didn't actually buy it but got to the furthest checkout page) and it still doesn't show *£5 off*, sorry if I sound like an idiot but i just need some guidance on this haha
andyg88 to f2k8
8 Dec 162#23
You won't see the £5 credit until you have made the purchase. What will happen is when you buy something the full price of it will be added to your monthly Three bill, and then Three will credit back the cost of it up to £5. So basically you will only see the £5 off on your bill - not on Google Play.

Another question, does this change of payment method change your Direct Debit arrangement? I ask because as it stands I "save" £5 per month with Three by paying by DD...
Also boosts your credit rating doesn't it? Seems a shame to loose all that for the sake for a little bit of Play credit :smirk:
andyg88
9 Dec 16#29
No it does not affect your direct debit arrangement. You will still pay your three bills in the same way as you do now.
All this does is add an additional way of paying for things on Play.

This worked perfectly. I ended up buying a TV box set that I'd been looking at for years using the 50% off Google voucher. That knocked it from £21 to £10.50 and then I got a text from 3 to say they had credited me £5 so I only paid £5.50 for it in the end. I'm really happy with that.

I set up mobile billing and used this yesterday, getting the txt about the credit once I'd used it. Says it's until 20th Jan.
Check your notifications within the Three app (little bell, top right). I spotted it there, and them came looking here to post the deal (but way too late as usual). It's "targeted" accounts, but valid until 20th of January 2017. I just used mine now to buy a film, which conveniently dropped to £4.99 after I added it my watch list yesterday. Have received a confirmation message from Three thanking me for taking part in the promo and that my account has been credited. Remember to un-tick "apply Google Play balance" (if you have any) before buying.

Where did you find this? I think I may have been stung by this.
I believe there may be a spending limit on my account since I kept getting re-directed to 333 when I tried to call 101 the other day (as there is a 15p charge to call the police apparently).
Anyway I bought X-COM for £2.89 or whatever it was, used Three billing (first time using it so had to add the payment option), purchase went through fine and app started to download. However I didn't receive a text.
Checked the Three app and couldn't see anything regarding the payment or the refund.
Contacted live chat, they said contact Google. So instead I called up 333 and had to give the guy the URL for the offer as he had no idea about it. After a brief stint on hold he said he's manually credit my account £5. Got a confirmation text after the call.
Went to check the Three app again to confirm the credit, but it showed as:
Monthly charge £12.00
Extra charges £5.0
Total spend £17.00
 !!!
Gave them another call and the second guy confirmed its on their system as a credit and it will deduct £5 from my next bill. So I guess I will just wait and see what comes through!
