Mine has turned up now. Switched superhub 2 to modem mode and got it all going but wireless range is no better. Am i missing something. I have a wired network point in the lounge that i could plug it into which would put it more central to the house. Would this work if i just turn off the wifi on the superhub? Will i still be getting all the benefits from it? I need the wired network points in the study where the router is. Its only a 3 bed house!
Bit disappointed at the moment!! Please help!

Hi - how is the superhub 3 going? I'm on the previous version and it is really playing up at the moment , dropping connection intermittently - considering the upgrade - did they charge you for upgrading. Thanks in advance for any advice etc.

Used it before connected as router turning Virgin Superhub into modem and it kept dropping the connection and there was a lag too. In the end I just called Virgin and they gave me the new Superhub 3

Ah, I thought you'd managed to hack the box! I run a plex server too using nowtv clients but for personal use. Your problem is likely transcoding at the server side, which a new router won't fix. Well, unless your current router is particularly bad!

thanks, but I'm not looking to limit the bandwidth 1/10th (at present I can only get 3mbs max per device, even tho there's only 3 devices connected, so even if said devices are maxed out at once - which they won't be - I'm only ever going to use 9mbs, when I'm paying for 30). I'd like to spread the 30mbs across the three for 10mbs per device, or ideally nominate 1 device to have say 20mbs and the other two 5mbs each, is this possible with a 3rd party router?

thanks, but I don't want to limit the bandwidth to 1/10th, i want increase the bandwidth for devices. basically, as standard,I only get 3mbs per device max, regardless of the amount of connected devices. With a 3rd party router I'd like to be able to spread the 30mbs to 3 devices, which equals 10mins speeds, or even have one dedicated device to have greater speeds for downloading films etc. is there such a router that can do this?

Don't know if there's any boffs out there. I've got a standard talktalk router which is split between 10 devices (I only have a few tho). So, say I get 30Mbs split, that's 3mbs per device max. As I only ever have max 3 devices connected at once, I'd like to adjust the settings to split the 30mbs across 3 devices instead of 10, which would total 10mbs per device (total up and down). I can't see anywhere in the standard router settings to do this, would this sort of router enable this config? cheers

i wouldnt touch tp-link as their firmware is not good. Just ditched the archer/c2 as far too underpowered. Went for an asus rtn66-u (from amazon - about 80 pounds). Great so far. And has an android/apple app which is nice and complimentary to the onboard setup. You can bandwidth limit each device - your choice of dividing 10 machines into 3 groups wont work, but you can limit each to 1/10th of the available traffic. Bandwidth limiting like this is problematic - if most devices are idle, then you are penalising one. But you may be able to figure out who the hog is (eg games or big downloads) and apply limits to them. The asus nicely tells you what devices are connected (maps the MAC address to the vendor name, e.g. dell or samsung, etc). So far like this, but am having terrible problems with clash of clans over wifi (and I am beginning to think its COC at fault rather than the router).

A standard router does not work the way you describe. If 10 devices connect, they all share the 30mbps. Its not split between each device so each will only receive 3.

That is incredibly cheap, half what the AC750 goes for; but it is in one of their older style cases, and there have been a few reports of this case overheating due to the heavier than designed load.
As an ADSL2+ router it was perfect, but adding VDSL made it run a bit hotter and caused a few issues; hopefully this current version wont suffer that problem.

FYI - if anyone is looking to purchase a DD-WRT compatible router, DD-WRT does not support 5ghz on this router.
