Would this work as a replacement for my PS4's 500gb drive? constantly out of space on the damn thing.

Same question here lol
Or for Xbox One

The good news is that the Xbox One supports any USB 3.0 external hard drive that's 256GB or larger, so upgrading your storage is simple. You just buy the drive, and plug in a single cable.

9 Dec 16#10
It will work on xbox one, as for PS4 I'm unsure I'm sure that it has to be certain type of hard drive and you need an adapter as external HDs don't work with PS4s (I might be wrong though)

How will it work with Xbox one? Is it as a internal replacement or plugged in using USB?
nathan3007
9 Dec 161#15
Straight into the Xbox's USB port.
So you end up with the Xbox internal memory + the 3TB of this

Video here shows removal from case (for another Toshiba Canvio). At around 5.10 mins he shows this drive next to a PS4 drive and it's a lot thicker. He says it fits in the PS4 cage, but wouldn't work on his PS4.

And you can install all games on it without any problem?

Looks like they are dropping it from their main site / stores, and pushing the last of them through eBay. Can't see on their main site anywhere...

Yes of course, I had a 1tb hooked up to my 500gb xbox before I upgraded to a 2tb console

Yep. That's how I have mine set up. All the biggies on the external, a few smaller games on the internal.

How easy is it to move from internal to newly connected external?
creepyg
9 Dec 161#22
Very. In My games & apps, highlight a game or app, press the Menu button on your controller, and then select Manage game. You can move or copy between storage devices.

anyone know the cheapest £ per TB deal on 3.5" drives please? there used to be a maintained mega thread but can't find it
slayermatt to joshtbh
9 Dec 16#37
It's pretty much ~£27 per TB from 2tb - 4tb regardless of the drive. This is the cheapest currently as far as I can see if you're willing to take the drive out. Other than that the Toshiba P300 series looks around the cheapest for 1 - 3tb. Prices are all over the place at the moment though.

Great deal but to get the £67.50 price I had to sign up to paypal which I hope won't cost me more than just paying for this disk. Bought one of these a few months ago when they were a tiny bit more from Argos. Fantastic little disk with no need for charger - just plug and play. I have now given up desk top drives.

Data transfer rate at 5000Mbits/s doesn't look too good for me. If it was 10000 Mbits/s I'd vote hot.
