Ok, so its not the best of mobiles, its not smart or clever, but it could be a nice emergency phone, or the kind of thing you take on a night out and can afford to lose for £1.99 on free next day delivery. It has a 12 month warranty. It is locked to 02 for 12 months which is a shame, but for less than £2 with a top up its not exactly bank breaking. It should though work with a £7.50 PAYG Tesco sim card given they piggya back 02.
no top up needed with O2

Buy loads, make calls in public, then drop them in a nearby bin in full view of passers-by - and everyone will think you're a spy!
Or maybe a terrorist - so maybe not such a great idea after all.

My son is one of only 3 children in his year at school without a phone!
He is not spoiled. He doesn't NEED an iPhone, just like he also doesn't need the 6 selection boxes and the countless socks and undies and other daft gifts he will be receiving this Xmas.
I chose an iPhone, after looking for weeks for something suitable that I have some control over (using my Apple ID etc) he works hard at school and gets positively rewarded at home and only gets gifts at birthdays and Xmas (and after his SATS). He pays for everything else he gets such as games etc. from money he has in his bank account that he doesn't fritter away on sweets etc. he saves his spending money, birthday money and Christmas money and has £165 in his wallet now that has mostly been there since Easter.
Oh, and apart from his iPhone, he has 5 books and a (£10) pair of Bluetooth headphones. All of which he will be greatful for and look after. Yes he knows the value of money!
And besides, he's gonna think Santa brought them anyway.

Bang on reply - iPhones are great for youngsters as they are such a tight ecosystem you can keep control and make sure they are used safely, whereas a lot of other phones can easily be modified and bypassed. All kids have phones these days, and the iPhone 5s is 3 years old, so pretty obvious you are not buying it just for the 'street cred'.
Ignore Elevation. He's obviously far superior to everyone else and must spend his days studying fine art and musing over philosophical quandaries and would never waste his money on frivolous 'fun' items. Oh wait... all his deal postings are for video games and blu-rays... Why would anyone NEED them??!

If you don't need the functions of your smart, clever mobile phone when you are out and about why buy it in the first place? There's no point having a mobile computer if you don't use it while you are mobile.
Just buy a phone like this and use a laptop or desktop at home.
A much cheaper way of doing things.

Heat from me. Got this phone on a similar deal from tesco where you brought the phone for £14.99 and they give you a £10 topup which gets subtracted from your bill making it £4.99. Use it all the time for festivals and nights out, just swap my normal sim in whenever its needed.
