I popped into Morrisons to look for the 70cl bottle of Tanqueray gin which I had seen was £15 and discovered to my delight that the 100cl (1 Litre) bottle was only £1 more.
I have been drinking this stuff for years and have never seen it this cheap in the UK so I reckon that it's gotta be the bargain of the week for gin lovers. I gave up drinking the understrength Gordons years ago and this stuff knocks Gordons for 6.
I couldn't see it on Morrisons website so have no idea if it's local, a few stores or the whole chain. I found this in the St Albans store.
I have tried to copy a photo that I took of the shelf at Morrisons showing the price tag etc but cannot figure it out. Looks a bit more than just "Cut 'n Paste" !! Help appreciated.

Called in to Morrison's at Redditch and, it must be Christmas, 'cos they had them in stock. Usually decent offers are sold out very quickly.
Bought two, one for a gift but I'm now going to keep both.
Heat added.

After my earlier comment saying I hadn't been able to find this deal after three days looking in 2 stores (one of which is pretty big) I'd like to update that! I've just got back from one more look and my local store now has a largish end of isle display with around 30 bottles (litres) at £16! (There was no sign saying max 2 per customer so there are now only around 26 left!) This display has gone up since the weekend.
So it's looking more like a genuine deal and may be worth the effort hunting for.

OP, please amend the title, it's 43.1% ABV, not proof. Proof is double the ABV, so it would be 86.2 proof.

Done - apologies for the confusion !
And thanks for pointing this out.

I seemed to recall that whereas many spirits are now 40 deg ABV whereas many years ago they were 70 deg.
You may therefore be interested to learn that "deg proof" is only twice the ABV in the US. The UK "deg proof" equivalent is in fact 1.75 x the ABV so that 40 deg ABV x 1.75 = 70 deg proof which is what you will see on an old bottle of UK spirits if you have one lying around. HTH

No worries. Thought it might help clear up any confusion regarding export strength seeming lower than the regular stuff

Neither Morrisons in my area have any stock of the litres - and I've been checking regularly since this was posted last week. It's not been advertised anywhere - not on their website or mysupermarket or anywhere - so I suspect it's an unadvertised clearance deal. Great if you can find it, otherwise a bit of a wild goose chase. :disappointed:

I bought it at lunchtime today and have definitely been charged £16 so are you saying that the price should no longer be £16?
What do you mean by "changed back on Monday"?

I'm glad you said that my hubby bought some the other day and I thought we had paid more by accident because it is listed for £26 online.
