I have looked at these and the box states "NOT DISHWASHER SAFE". As much as I would love one, having a non-dishwasher mug is just an inconvenience in this day and age and I also thought if we bought one with the intention of hand washing it would only be a matter of time before it would be mistakenly be put into a Dishwasher.....and thus lose its "magic". Nice price but bad product.

yep a friend put mine into my dishwasher and half of it has peeled off. so be warned definately dont put it in dishwasher!!

You can't wash one mug by hand? Surely it not the end of the world for ONE mug. First world problems I guess. In truth if washing a single mug by hand is an issue then no heat activated mugs will work for you
The reason they can't be put in dishwasher is due to constant heat for long periods of time.
I have this and always gets hand washed. That being said it's slowly started to peel away from the edge albeit still working fine. They never last for ever but mine is now a year old and still going strong

You've got to be careful how you wash them up - you can scratch the coating off.
