how easy is it to get this unlocked?

I bought this today and thought it was a good deal -if ee unlock this for free then I will be very happy

​do you mind if I ask how you went about getting in unlocked? did you ask them at point of sale? did they charge you for it? I want to keep the phone a secret for Xmas present, so she can keep same number. Carphone warehouse said my wife would have to receive a text to confirm upgrade, but then again their service is awful and they aren't interested in PAYG sales. We're both on O2 & don't wanna change, so as long as I can keep it secret, this sounds brilliant. p.s is it micro or nano SIM?

If you buy a phone from ee you can ask them at any time to unlock the the phone. It was free. But takes up to 10days to get the link through.
