Sony A600 with 16-50 kit lens in black and silver at Argos. Nationwide but availability better in some areas. Best price I've seen it recently.

Already have a DSLR just fancy something smaller, love the thought of having DSLR guts in a smaller compact body, but no cash at the moment :disappointed: haha

Different beasts.......
Played with one of these for a couple of weeks & it is a great camera....but no SLR beater.......that being said there are occasions where the compact size make it preferable to an SLR.....could I use one daily to replace my SLR ? Not a chance in hell ......would I use one where it's size was more convenient for things like street photography......yes I would

I've had the whole series of NEX cameras from Sony. They are great. Not AS good as a really good SLR but it's all about the operator.....

Most people will find very little difference with this and a DSLR but will use this a lot more because it is a more practical camera. Having said that, Fuji x-t10 ftw.

Yip, and its real fast autofocus as well (not as fast as the a6300/6500) but still well up there.

Special of 10% quidco on FastTrack + Delivery for today only, making this quite a tasty deal if that works out.

How did you get it for such a great price?
brilly
17 Dec 16#25
£50 off each £150 spent - payment split into 3 transactions
so not really a deal on the product, more taking advantage of amex's stupidity

I have had one of these for a few months and I love it, would like it even more if I spent longer trying to understand what it can really offer me. I bought a Sony 50mm 1.8 OSS lens, and a Sigma 19mm to go with the 16-50 kit lens it comes with.
Overall I have had some excellent results and with it coupled with a Nissin i40 flash it works well, even with the continuous mode for taking multiple images the flash keeps up nicely with TTL metering.
There is a lot that I need to learn but I'm happy so far, I would like a zoom type lens and have been looking at the Sony 16 - 70 and the 18 - 200, the former being my preferred choice at the moment, but it is kinda expensive.
The A6300 and the A6500 seems to be mainly suited to those who like to take video, not me really.
Excellent camera and heat added, for the price it offers great value.
Or buy a bunch of old Minolta Rokkor lenses and an adaptor and go manual focus! With the focus aids on the camera it's really easy and you get amazing glass for not much money...

Good point. I did read a little about that and whilst there are so many adaptors out there I'm not sure if people are expecting too much from them, in terms of features that they allow, but I'm just getting to understand focus peaking and manual focusing so indeed that could be the way forward. Thanks

Thanks for that. I was looking at the Sony 16-70 as it seemed to offer me what I would like, as most of my photographs of people and group occasions etc are taken within that range. And it offers me stabilisation as well built in, I found that useful when using the 50mm lens in poor light as it seems pretty good at allowing me to reduce the shutter speed quite low and still get some great shots.
The only downside, apart from the price, is the size of it.
That couldn't be said of the pancake lens though...!
