By the way, anybody that has bought from Richer Sounds for that 6 year warranty, you MUST make sure you complete and return the registration card within 30 days to get that warranty. To do so you will need the Invoice number (Will be CSxxxxxxxx) as well as the serial number from your speaker.

Good price for this but it's only an extra £25 at Richer Sounds with a 6 year warranty.

Let's just say beings with S ends in S! Lol! But seriously buy the Play 5, it's still a great deal - and you'll get the bug and buy the play 1's at a later date.

I've downloaded the app, but have no idea how the hell I make this work. Any chance of a few quick tips just on the Alexa Sonos thing please??

I have found that none of the commands work on my wife though, so if it comes to a choice between the two she is on dodgy ground. Alexa also never snaps at me, is always friendly and sometimes a little bit sassy (try Alexa, I want the truth). If they come up with a dinner making skill for Alexa, my wife is going to have to buck her ideas up considerably.

Would it be better to get one of these or two of the Play:1's?

depends what you want it for, the 5's has a line in the 1's don't.

I couldn't decide so have bought both a few days ago. Absolutely love both of them, but the Play 5 has a better bass than the 1s, whereas the 1s can be set up as a proper stereo pair and still have a very nice bass to them.
I have a Kitchen/Lounge with the 5 in the Kitchen and the 1s in the lounge part, which is what I listen to most. I'm happy with that to be honest, so if I had to choose, I'd probably go for the pair of 1s. As has been noted though, only the 5 has the line in. I'm waiting on Amazon Echo integration so I can control through that.
Went through Richer Sounds as well, purely for the 6 year warranty.

Forgot to mention I already own 2 play 1s . So , can I not configure to use play 5 as centre and play 1s as Left , right channels ?

Nah you can get amplified speakers or amplified ceiling speakers relatively cheap and adequate for cheap and they sound better than a £160 Amazon Echo..lol
Then just use Google Home with them too...

Unplug the Echo from the Sonos and try an app called Yonami with the Echo, it has voice control for Sonos

Ive got the Echo Dot plugged into my Play:5. Works well but if you then select a track via the Sonos or Spotify app it 'kills' the connection much to the frustration of my wife who is threatening to throw poor Alexa out the window lol.
Will be better once Sonos integrate it properly.

I am planning to buy this instead of Playbar - did anyone try using this as a tv soundbar and observe lip synch issues ? Or delay . I know this is not meant to be a soundbar but still don't want to buy playbar as it's an old product and has limitations

Cant see how you would use it as a sound bar. Has Aux in but thats it.
