My old tyme bulldog suffers with his joints and wondered if these would help?

The vet gave my mates dog some. When I mentioned I took these he said are they not for dogs lol, I told him no they help my joints.
People said they don't work but when I'm in the gym my elbow no longer cracks, I've been taking them a few months now.
