Police can stop you and give you a ticket if you're wearing headphones while driving. According to The Highway Code, they can even stop you even if you're not wearing headphones but your music is extremely loud. Deaf people don't have loud music in their ears that can distract them, but because you're not deaf, one of your senses will be distracted and that's purposefully not putting all your concentration on the road, which is punishable as a minor offence with a ticket.
DVLA
Rule 148
Safe driving and riding needs concentration. Avoid distractions when driving or riding such as
loud music (this may mask other sounds)
trying to read maps
starting or adjusting any music or radio
arguing with your passengers or other road users
eating and drinking
smoking

One needs music.
It's a 15 year old Polo...I think degradation of the speakers from overuse is the probably option.
As for removing a sense; that's up for debate. I'm sure most deaf people can drive perfectly fine. Plus removing one sense heightens others.

Yep. Tried them in various devices and just not loud enough for me. Still my go to for planes though as they're comfortable enough to wear while watching in-flight entertainment for 7 hours +

I'm a bit of a headphone collector with many models including Grado, Sennheiser, Beyer Dynamic, AKG etc.
My personal opinion on these is they perform to a good level, far superior to the fashion brands or extra bass products but for a neutral balanced sound they can be beaten at a similar price point. Sony's MDR-300 seemed much better to me. I think the issue with the Sennheisers is while neutral its quite a flat sound not very dynamic which makes them a bit boring to listen to.

I would actually get that looked at. If you've got a real problem you don't want an electrical short in a car!
Also, don't remove one of your senses whilst driving, bad idea!
If you must do this get some speakers to plug in and chuck them in your passenger footwell instead...

These are really old now & frankly you would be better off with something else (I got a set of these for about £12 on Amazon back in early 2014!) - the high price on amazon will be as they're probably discontinued now as the HD202 model replaced them (and are only £20 anyway).
Overall, everything Sennheiser makes are are least half decent though and these are still OK headphones - albeit with an annoyingly long cable (it's like 5m I think, which is overkill for most uses) - but far better to spend about £30 which will get you a set of entry level AKG models (K44 or K52) or Urbanears Plattans which sound far better.
**Edit - Should point out the Plattans are on-ear models, but others are over-ear.

I've owned these and can say that audio wise these are pretty good. They won't win any awards for design as they are quite plasticky, but for under £20 what can you expect. I used them quite a lot and found them to be very comfortable for budget headphones.
Mine were eventually thrown out due to the cable becoming badly frayed (my fault and not a criticism of the headphones) and I've recently replaced them with a pair of akg k81's for just over £20 (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000BDD56W/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1).

11 Dec 16#46
I believe it depends what you're using them for, walking about (outside) probs ear phones. Inside headphones for the noise cancelling, you can just focus on what you're listening to, not to mention I believe they give a better surround sound quality..
When you see musicians and professionals dealing with music they're nearly always using headphones, so I would guess they would say headphones are better too

Brilliant headphones used for over 8 years in countless edit suits. These headphones have a flat eq so if you like base these might not be for you. They are ideal for audiophiles on a budget. Read a few reviews saying these are the best you can get for under £100.
Some have said these need a bit of burn in so give them a chance rather than making a snap judgement.
These might not look the sexiest headphones on the market but if you care about the audio quality rather than having them as a fashion accessory these are the ones?
