posted a deal that was well received for a 4GB version last week, this is a great deal on an 8GB.

Isn't there not much between the 4Gb and the 8gb variants? Good deal though

yeah not much between them in most reviews. Just a bit more head room, some games now when you set ultra settings bring up a message advising that you should have more than 4GB but imagine the 4GB doesn't do too bad

Is this better than a 1060 6GB?

No. The 480 is closer to the 1060.

the 8gb version of this card uses the same memory as the RX480 and is also factory over clocked. this is the only RX470 with this spec and performs very close to the RX480 4GB. Great price!!

Oops! Bad typo. It would be great if that were true though
Plus we should get a free code (with an RX 480) for Civ VI as part of the amd rewards offer.

Do you have any more details? I can't see anything on MSI or Ebuyer, have I missed it? I wanted to see whether the rebate was based on purchase date or not, and therefore I could still take advantage of it.
I believe the 470 is being offered with Hitman, similar to the 480 getting Civ.
It's good for cards purchased until midnight tonight (Friday). cosminhards has posted a link to the rx 480 8gb.
I see ebuyer also has the 470 gaming X 4gb for £185; with the cashback that would bring it down to £148; that sounds like a good deal too if the cashback comes through!

That's brilliant, thanks. £150 for the 470 is definitely something I could go for.

Overclockers are doing the 480 4gb for £188

Any chance of a link? I've been looking for the past five minutes, and can't find a 480 for less than £200.

I cant find the 480 for that price either I'm afraid. Got this on offer from Flubit for £180, been so long since I got a graphics card not sure if to get this or the 480 4gb if it is £188

Ok, so to follow up my previous post. While doing research for my new graphics card (now got an RX 480 8gb), I put together these notes for all 4 versions of 470 and 480 (4gb and 8gb for each). Sorry for their verbose nature, but maybe it helps someone have a bigger picture of what the MSI offer brings to the table. I tried making the lowest prices (after MSI rebate) clear by making them bold, and every paragraph represents a new graphics card/memory combination. Sorry for the poor formatting, hope it helps someone decide. But remember the purchase must be made before the end of today.
I have been researching these products all this afternoon, but am well out of my depth.
Could I ask why you chose the amd rx480 8gb over a nvidea 1060 6gb? Is it purely price and extra ram or is there more to it?
At these prices after cashback, I am not suprised you have taken the plunge.
Thank you for all of your efforts.

Sorry for not responding at the time :disappointed: not sure if it's relevant for you or not, but I chose it for 1. the much better price (if I get the cashback it's 195 vs 250); 2. more ram (now it might not make a difference but in the future it might) and 3. it will be much cheaper to get a monitor with freesync than with gsync. So basically for financial reasons.

Am I correct in saying MSI don't do a card with a reference cooler, then? Need a reference (blower) cooler as I'm building in a small case.

I think 3-4gb is enough for the *perceptually* highest quality textures at 1080p, even with modest AA. It's almost never worth buying the higher vram card as it usually provides little to zero fps increase on it's own.

I saw the card at Playasia. Although MSI state for products sold in the UK, I assumed they would claim that Playasia is imported stock or blacklisted from cashback?
It's what usually happens in these situations

God this is so misleading! Let me explain: MSI CASHBACK DOES NOT WORK WITH EVERY RETAILER!
Onto the details, in the terms and conditions, MSI states that the cashback only works if your INVOICE clearly written "20% cashback", as far as I am aware, only scan and overclockers did the msi promotion, not ebuyer, not Amazon, definitely not play asia.

Where does it say this? On the website the conditions state:
and in the rebate form it states:
Why do you think this promotion is only valid for purchases from scan and overclockers?

Thanks very much for taking the time to respond, with such a lot of info.
